Software giant Microsoft continues to face bad press in relation to their security application offering Live OneCare. Several tests in the recent months have shown that the antivirus engine trails most of the existing services available in the market.
Now, a bug in the antivirus engine has been discovered which can potentially delete some users’ Outlook and Outlook Express emails.
Users have reported that the mailbox files are deleted when the antivirus programme finds a virus in an email attachment. The application in that case instead of quarantining that single email, deletes or quarantines the whole email database.
A company spokesperson confirmed this issue and said that they are working hard on fixing this issue. The company expects to issue a fix in the update in the near future.
All this bad press is not good for the company at this time when they are highly promoting their Vista and Office 2007 product in the market along with their security applications offering.
