Default Dell asking customers on their choice of Linux distro

Dell is the world’s second largest personal computer maker after Hewlett Packard. The company recently announced an initiative where they asked their customers suggestions to improve their market position.

One of the hottest suggestions to have emerged was for the company to launch Linux loaded machines. Dell has not exactly confirmed that they are going to launch such products but the company has now begun polling customers about their software preferences today.

Customers are being asked to choose between the popular Linux distributions like the Ubuntu, Fedora, SuSE and the others.

They are also asking the customers to pick more general choices like what kind of machines and tech support would they prefer to get from dell.

Dell software architect Matt Domsch spoke about this new development: “Taking a few minutes to complete this survey will help us define our forthcoming Linux-based system offerings. We’ll take some time to analyze your feedback and work to provide the platforms and options you choose.”

More and more people are now moving to Linix based operating system and this is because they are more stable and safe from spyware and other virus. So it would be god if Dell would offer this to their customers.

Linux is Free and if this is so then i am sure that we would see no price for this operating system if taken as a option while buying a new pc from Dell.

Linux is a good operating system but i think it would create a little bit more problem for DEll and this is that there are many Linux based OS and offering all would be a problem to them.

    Default Dell

Well Dell has actually long been pondering into a possibility of joint venture with Canonical. This is because MS does not provide Dell the knowhow of fixing OS things up, which has been frustrating them. On the other hand Ubuntu and other LinDistros are much flexible with that. The Dell also achieves a cost advantage by releasing these Linux based products.
