Software giants and the makers of Windows OS, Microsoft has launched a small utility for the users of their Windows XP operating system.
This software application is named Private Folder 1.0 and it enables the user to store private documents and files in a specially created folder which can be password protected for extra security.
Microsoft Private Folder 1.0 is available as a free download from the company’s website and requires the user to authenticate their Windows OS installation through the controversial Windows Genuine Advantage program.
Once installed, the application creates a special folder on the desktop which can be password protected for extra security on the desktop.
However, network administrators believe that such an application would lead to possible problems with security and data recovery on the machines in a corporate environment. It remains to be seen that by what version Microsoft can make this application both usable and safe for office environments.
