Rep Power: 10 | RealNetworks fixes critical bugs in RealPlayer RealNetworks earlier this week disclosed four critical bugs in a large number of its media products. This was later followed by new, patched versions of their music applications for the Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux platforms. These four bugs were labeled critical by the Danish vulnerability tracker Secunia. These affected RealPlayer, Rhapsody, Helix Player, and RealOne Player applications developed by the company for the various operating systems. RealNetworks has said that the fixed updated versions are available from the company’s website for further download. These flaws existed in the way these applications process .swf (Flash) and .mbc (Mimio) files. These could have resulted in hackers to run their own code on PCs and Macs. The company added that they have received no reports of systems actually hit with an exploit. However, they are still recommending that their users update these applications as soon as possible. |
