Default Steve Ballmer: Future Windows OS updates would come faster

Windows Vista has been a troublesome product for the software giants Microsoft. It has already seen massive delays and the company is now aiming for a January 2007 launch for this first major update to their consumer OS product in 5 years.

Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer has now vowed that future updates to Windows range of operating systems would be faster and won’t see so many delays.

Ballmer said: “I think it’s probably important for me to tell our partners that, rest assured, we will never have a gap between Windows releases as long as the one between XP and Windows Vista. Count on it, I can go through the history of how we got through here, but just count on it. We will never have this kind of gap again.”

Interestingly, this news comes just weeks after the company delayed the launch of their MS Office 2007 product for a couple of months to ensure a safe and stable launch.

Vista might be delayed but the worse part of its development is that several major enhancements planned in this update were scrapped to prevent more delays. And with Microsoft facing growing competition from internet-based companies, they need to make sure that their future products are worth upgrading too and they arrive on time.

If we are to believe Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, there is still 20% chance that Vista would see another delay. Now, that is complicated!
