Default Microsoft believes EU fines won’t affect Windows Vista launch

Microsoft’s Japan unit has said in a statement that any fine imposed by the European Union on the company’s will not affect the launch of their upcoming operating system launch Windows Vista.

Microsoft Co. Ltd. President Darren Huston said in a statement on the launch of Vista: “I don’t think this has any impact on the teams and the efforts that are going forward to that launch. We are still committed to the existing plan of record.”

The company is due to launch Vista for business consumers later this year and the general consumers early next year. Though, Microsoft’s chairman Bill Gates recently admitted that they are 80% sure of meeting this latest deadline for the already much delayed launch of the Vista.

The European Commission on Wednesday fined the software giant 280.5 million euros for continuing to defy the ruling on the 2004 antitrust lawsuit. It had ordered the company to share vital information with competitors to let them applications more compatible with their operating system products.
