Rep Power: 4 | Developers of virtualization technology, VMware has announced the launch of a new product named VMware Server and they are offering it as a free download. The aim of the company is to encourage the adoption of virtualization technology in the enterprise sector. The application has already been a hit with the beta testers as the company saw as many as 700,000 downloads during a period of five months. VMware Server enables the administrators to create and provision additional server capacity by partitioning a physical server into multiple virtual machines. VMware is hoping that users of this application wanting more features and capabilities would upgrade to VMware Infrastructure 3. Interestingly, this comes after software giants Microsoft announced that they are making their own Virtual PC 2004 platform available for free. |
