Default Microsoft to work with BCCI for software to improve umpiring standards in India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is negotiating with the US based software giant Microsoft to develop solutions to help the board raise umpiring standards in the country.

Microsoft would now develop a software solution, which would help the BCCI to evaluate the performance of umpires in every domestic match.

This development was revealed to the media by BCCI vice-president Lalit Modi.

Modi said: “We zeroed in on Microsoft after looking at several technological solutions. The deal is not finalized yet, but we are in the final stages of negotiations.”

The Indian cricket control board has now decided that they would be recording all domestic matches with six cameras and the footage will be analyzed by the software being developed by Microsoft.

Interestingly, instead of holding training sessions for the umpires, the BCCI decides to evaluate their performances directly! Talk about taking shortcuts to success.
