Try restoring your laptop to a previous date when it was working fine.

I m facing similar problem, but its not d problem! when u dual boot ur system, its VISTA's boot loader.
So what prob u r casing? Wanna remove vista? Plz explain ur problem in detail, so that I can help u out!
Also tell me whether u r using Genuine copy of vista or not!

Tell me what OS u r having right now with ur total partition setup like no of drives, partition etc. Also sequence of operations u did after u formatted ur HDD!

@milan, You PC is most likely hijacked.

You will not like my advice but I am giving it anyway:

1. Go genuine. It will cost you upfront but give you peace of mind. You have formatted your laptop at least 14/15 times in the last six months. This alone makes your laptop more or less unusable - you cannot use it with any confidence.

2. Stop using any cracks and serials software. They introduce DLLs that hijack the system. They get loaded in SVCHOST processes at boot time and no AV in the world is able to remove them then. Again go genuine.

3. You can switch to good freeware such as Open Office. It may not be as great as MS-Office but for small work it will get you by.

well if this is happening from the first boot after new installation, then its probably a new crack. dont worry u are getting ur booted vista right!
so chill, and ignore it.

and as far as HDD condition is concerned its ok no problem with formatting at all. get this as ur HDD gets "ooooo" written all over it when it gets formatted.
just like copying a file..

I have learnt from bitter experience.

I had a craked XP/Pro and craked Norton AV. One day I was affected by a virus and it simply would not go away. My browser would always throw popups (even when popup blocker was on), would never go to desired home page (google), etc. System was slow and some games stopped working or would hang half way. Sometimes entire system used to hang with no blue screen on any such symptom.

I purchased XP/Pro for 5990/- and I am at peace now.

Maybe I sound that I talk like platinum but what fails to amaze me that (and I have said the same thing on some other thread)

- we speed nearly 30K on a computer but will not buy 10k worth of genuine software. Please let me know if you really require more than 10k to invest in software and I will show you the proper way.
- we spend Rs. 600 to 1000 pm on internet connection and to do what - download movies and pirate software but why spend on genuine software?
- we spend Rs. 200 pp on a multiplex movie (not to mention other costs such as parking, food/snacks, etc.) and we make a visit to multiplex maybe every week but will not invest the any amount to buy a decent AV product for as little as Rs. 1200/- to Rs. 1600/- and updates that cost half the amount per year.
- we wont bat an eyelid to buy a cup of coffee for Rs. 40 at Barista or buy a Levi Strauss for Rs. 2400 but spending the same on software is taboo or foolishness

I can give many such examples - need I go on.

well not that platinum level but I m a Junior member.

@milan,
I got it what u r talking abt, I m using Vista x64 sp1 + xp sp3 dual boot and m getting same boot loader, It injects windows activation crack starts from booting so that u dont have to crack or validate ur windows, u must have noticed in system poperties, UR WINDOWS IS ACTIVATED TAB with a particular product key. Look, u'll find a different key everytime u boot ur PC, what a beauty of this crack!!
so if u have to remove it, then ur vista wont last for more than 120 days as per windows policy, so although its annoying u cant do unless u buy orig vista which comes for around 16k for ultimate edition, 12k for home premium, these r rates for 32bit edition, 64 editions r costlier than these.

@kicks(I mispelled it purposely)
indian crowd is not as wealthier as u r, they cant spend 10k on softwares.
They have alternative of coffee @ udupi for CCD/BARISTA,
they go to single screen theatre & enjoy multiplex exp @ 60 bucks, they have alternate of buying samosas instead of pizzas/nachos/burgers,
They prefer buying from FASHION STREET rather than buying from Levi Strauss Stores
They dont wear 360 degree air sole shoes from NIKE/ADIDAS, instead they go to CHOR BAZAAR early friday morning @ 5 am and buy equivalent shoes for as less as 500 bucks, no compromise on quality.

So if u think buying softwares worth 10k, we r compromising on quality, its not like that!
In fact we are supporting Manufactures of Optical DVD Drives to bring down prizes or DVD-Writers/ Bule Ray Disc Readers, so see SATA DVD- Writer is availble for just 1000 bucks, and blank DVD for 7 bucks.

And people have d option of using open source GNU OS like Ubuntu, so why to invest in softwares?????
