That option is called "Show an alert" which is enabled by default. See the screen-shot for details. However Thunderbird must be *running* to 'show an alert'. In my PC, it runs in the system tray.

You are welcome Vishnu.

Feel free to comment on Thunderbird after few days/weeks. It might help others who are looking for similar reviews.

Kind Regards,
Pothi.

Yes windows live mail is simply the best... Very good graphics, easy ui, easy switching of multiple accounts, works with hotmail.

It says '*Requires a premium Yahoo! account' in the Windows Live Mail download page. And 'Internet functionality requires dial-up or broadband Internet access (provided separately). Local or long-distance charges may apply' in the system requirements page. D I need a premium yahoo account to use Windows Live Mail. Does it cost any for using it.

Actually all clients use imap or pop mail forwarding facility in your email accounts. Gmail provides that for free, previously yahoo also used to provide it free but no more. As hotmail is of microsoft they have included html forwarding for live mail free.

So to use your yahoo account (in any email client) you will have to buy a premium account from yahoo.

Many other email services (gmx, gmail, hotmail (only with live mail) ) will work without issues.
