    Hi,

    Checkout Mozilla Thunderbird.

    It's available for Linux too.

It has got most of the futures that you're looking for. I'm not sure about it's memory usage. When it comes to futures, I feel you should compromise on the memory usage.

I've been using it for a long long time without any issues.

I have tried Outlook Express, Thunder Bird, Incredimail, Opera Mail. I don't know all their features. I would like to know if any of them have Full IMAP Support and Real Time Email Notifying.

    Hi,

    Thunderbird supports IMAP.

BTW, what do you mean by 'real time notifying' and *full* 'imap' support?

    Kind Regards,
    Pothi.

I know Thunderbird support IMAP. I was talking about Incredimail and Opera when I said Full IMAP support(the don't support it very well, I think). What I meant by Real Time Email Notifying is that I should get a pop up or some kind of message when ever I get a mail in my Gmail inbox without the need to open the Email Client every time.

So you mean I don't have to open the client software to know whether I have a mail or not. Do I need to 'enable' any options to get this function to work.

That option is called "Show an alert" which is enabled by default. See the screen-shot for details. However Thunderbird must be *running* to 'show an alert'. In my PC, it runs in the system tray.

It says '*Requires a premium Yahoo! account' in the Windows Live Mail download page. And 'Internet functionality requires dial-up or broadband Internet access (provided separately). Local or long-distance charges may apply' in the system requirements page. D I need a premium yahoo account to use Windows Live Mail. Does it cost any for using it.

Actually all clients use imap or pop mail forwarding facility in your email accounts. Gmail provides that for free, previously yahoo also used to provide it free but no more. As hotmail is of microsoft they have included html forwarding for live mail free.

So to use your yahoo account (in any email client) you will have to buy a premium account from yahoo.

Many other email services (gmx, gmail, hotmail (only with live mail) ) will work without issues.

This is most probably a broken connection... or u let the account idle for long. normally i get this message in these cases.

The broken connection can be either from ur end or from google end. Generally the google server sometimes disconnects after certain time of inactivity. Its not a serious problem.

How many times do u receive this message and at what time (i.e what r u doing in the client the moment it displays the messages)?
