Hi all, the screen of my k750i has suddenly gone dim, and its really hard to read what's on the screen now... I had the phone looked at by a cellphone guy and he said that there might be something wrong with the 'display chip'... has anyone faced this problem with their phone and if yes, then how much would this chip cost?

How old is the phone?

It may be cheaper to buy a new phone rather than getting it repaired.

I think Display chip is around 300-500Rs but for the fake one and no/less warranty time. Original chip is in the thousand range, i guess.

Then I'd think about getting it repaired at an authorized repair center.. as for the new phone, I'd love to buy one (who wouldn't) but I'm really holding out for a phone that lets me mess around with the OS, like the Motorola ROKR E6 did with its Linux OS...

I had a problem like this. Most probable cause is the LCD could be failing. I think a replacement LCD would cost about 750 to 1000 bucks.

Yes, get it repaired from the center, check prices though, in smaller cities they charge higher, i guess. About linux OS, i have not much expertise!

As long as the repair center can provide a guarantee... while I'm at it, I'll have them look at the joystick as well... gaming for hours on end didn't do it any good

That's the plan relton, I'll try in Noida, and if they charge too much, I'll take it to Delhi... on a side note, the things I love about the E6 is that its a touchscreen phone, with a linux OS, the build quality's pretty strong and it costs what a low to mid-range phone would.

I like to call it a 'brutal assault' instead

Hours of IBF through mobile made my phones keypad giving out hip hop music.specially the central click button gives an annoying sound.

For me it was hours of Burnout that literally 'burnt out' the phone joystick

Display problem are common in SE phones.

Weird... first one for me, and I've had three of them... delicate ones they're, sure, but I've never had to face display problems with them... the charger slot's a real nightmare though

If you wanna Buy E6 i will suggest buy it!
if you wanna mod it you can mod it to the its best level(use of full hardware)!
there are chances to brick your phone also

I was doing hours of internet on my pc through my phone. Than one day i noticed yellowishness on sides of phones screen..why my brothers phone screen get black when my cousins small son put it in milk?

Bricked phone can be repaired but it much complex procedure!
and service center guys tell to change the main board which nearly costs 3000

I read it somewhere that SE will be replacing that so-called FastPort with a common mini-USB port soon... when that soon is, no one knows, and I wonder if they'll change that damn port for people who still have their old phones too...
