    Default "Super Over" in T20

    "Super Over" in T20

Today there was a twenty20 international between New Zealand & West Indies @ Auckland. The match was tied.

New Zealand playing first scored 155/7 in 20 overs. Then the west Indies also scored 155 in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Now when there's a tie in T20, a bowl out happens, to decide the winner. Who can forget that Indo-Pak bowl out @ the T20 World Cup.

But in this match (NZL vs WI), "Super Over" took place to decide the winner. Now what's this Super Over.

    Super Over

3 batsmen and one bowler are chosen for each team who are bowl one over each on the same pitch with the same ball. West Indies batted second so they will have the first super over. If two wickets fall then the team is out and no more balls will be bowled.

In the event of a tie in the super over the team loosing the fewer number of wickets will win. If that is tied there will be a count back to the number of 6's which stands at 7 each and then a count back to the number of 4's which West Indies are leading 13 - 11.
For the West Indies, the batsmen were Gayle, Marshall and Chanderpaul and bowling for New Zealand was Vettori.

West Indies scored 25/1 from their super over. All the runs scored by Gayle.

So New Zealand had to score 26 from their Super Over to win the match.

For New Zealand, the batsmen were Oram, McCullum and Taylor and Benn was bowling for West Indies.

New Zealand were all out for 15 and West Indies won the match by 10 runs.

This is the 1st time Super Over is been used @ the international level

Seems T20 rules are very flexible.
    Nice to see some innovation.
Test cricket is gonna die someday.
