Akshay kumar gets Padma Shri Award, but Shushil & Vijender kumar gets none

Few days back these Padma Sri, Pdma Vibushan , Padma Bushan awards were announced. I was just going through the list of people who received these awards. Most of the people from Cinema. Then I was happy to see Abhinav Bindra’s name.. He thoroughly deserves it. Then I was looking whether the other Olympic medalist have got any awards. I was shocked that neither Shushil Kumar nor Vijender kumar got the award.

People like Askhay kumar & Ash are getting the award & not these Olympics medalist.

Did akshay & ash deserve award ahead of Shushil & Vijender kumar.

What did akshay & ash do to deserve the award?

Akshay might have given few blockbusters, he may be the highest tax payer from bollywood. But this is nothing new, previous years some other actors might have given blockbusters…Giving blockbuster is nothing new.

But these people Shushil Kumar & Vijender kumar have done something which only very few people have done it. i.e. wining a medal for India at the Olympics.

I feel very sad that our country has failed to recognize people like Shushil Kumar & Vijender kumar. If we won't encourage them then who will encourage them.

But it must be because its their first time in the international arena.
Abhinav Bindra has been very consistent on several occasions earlier.

It might be their 1st time in the international arena, but wining a medal at the Olympics is very rare,for a country like India. How often does India wins medal at the Olympics.

They (Shushil & Vijender kumar) have won the medal after a 4 yrs hard work. That too without getting any basic facilities, without any support from government/others.

One more thing point I would like to highlight,people like Harbhajan Singh are getting these Padma awards, a guy who was banned was the full season of IPL for slapping a player.

Do Harbhajan deserve a Padma Shri award ahead of Shushil & Vijender kumar?

i definately agree wid u jee tht thy shud ve given an award to vijender singh & sushil kumar.......thy ve got India 's name on the world int he olympics.....!!!

Thankfully thy gave one award to abhinav bindra....!

as far as akki n ash i ve no clue as to y......? thy didnt do anything for the country to be proud .....

Does the fact that Olympic medallists Sushil Kumar and Vijender Kumar were overlooked raise questions about the fairness of the selection process?

Do Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai deserve Padma Shris, considering the foremost criterion for the award is public service?

What public service has Aishwarya done?

lol....m also wondering.....

not every successful athlete or for that reasom performer can get padma shri every year - this thing happens each year. left out ones will shout. hard luck for them. but asking questions like 'why i have not been considered for the award' seems very cheap. i know my opinion on this thing may face some opposition but this is what i felt about this issue
