Two track marshals ran across the road, in an attempt to put out a minor fire on Renzo Zorzi's (Tom Pryces teammate) car. Zorzi had parked his car on the other side of the track. Ironically, Zorzi had alreadyextinguished the fire himself.
One of the marshals was hit by Pryces car which doing speeds of over 300 kmph. The marshal was sliced as he was hit and the 20 pound fire-extinguisher he carried flew into
Pryce's cockpit, hitting him in the face with enough force to launch the extinguisher over the top of the main Grandstand.
