Could you tell me why India vs Pakistan matches are always a big hit? Its cuz of present political scenario which we have witnessed for whole of our lives... Supporting a team for cricketing reasons is alright... But present relations with a country ignite the passion and patriotism even in a game.

Vs PAK. kabbadi or a squash game? if you think of present political scenario, its not only pak. but we have problems with srilanka as well, regarding LTTE. also with bangladesh over cross border terrorism and drug trafficking, and can you forget recent attack on indian students in australia?. i am an indian too and even i feel patriotic and passionate about our country. But do you think by playing cricket passionately can solve the issues like J&K or cross border terrorism. And winning in a cricket match can make them understand that we are superior to them? think over again.

i think one should support a team only for cricketing reasons and not for political reason . if that's the point then we indians should not support lanka as well. as they belong to land of ravana, who kidnapped sita maiyya , resulting in a war between india and lanka. which eventually won by india and marked the victory of good over evil

I do feel the passionate about any India vs Pakistan game. Cricket no doubt is on the top coz cricket is the sport these two countries play the best. How can you compare Sri Lanka and Pakistan in terms of political situations. LTTE is/was not Sri Lankan Government. India's relation with Sri Lanka has been always good. Why Ind vs Pak is considered to be one of the Top Sports Rivalry in the World. Its because of the passion of both the nations for cricket and the friction between them. Why was Cricket not played with Pakistan after the Kargil War? It is not always possible to separate Cricket(or any sport) from Politics. Cricket was attacked by Pakistani Terrorists a few months ago - Attack on Sri Lankan Team in Lahore.

We dont win a cricket match against pakistan to show our superiority. It is the passion, anger and a bit of hatred which makes Ind vs Pak matches such interesting and tensed.

The same kind of feeling also comes these days when we play against Aus. The racial attacks on students, the various foul games played by them in the last Test series in Aus etc add up to this.

To make it clear I don't watch every sports played by India... But whenever I hear India beating Pakistan in any game... I feel proud!

Many countries always have problems in their neighborhood... But that doesn't mean that they are enemy...

Pakistan has fought 3 major wars (1948, 1965, 1971) and couple of wars by proxy (1984, 1999) with India... So tension obviously builds up whenevr India plays Pakistan in a cricket match... And thank God India has never lost to Pakistan in a world cup!

Obviously not... But therez nothing wrong if you take pride in winning a game against your arch-rivals!

Absolutely, IMO sports seems to better if their is rivalry, No matter how bad any of team play but when they play with their arch rival, the intensity changes not for team but for country also... India-Pakistan, Aus-Eng, Ind-Aus, Fed-Nadal, etc etc...

Which is not historically proven neither correct! But the 'other team' has historically time and again proven its enmity... So no question of politics not invading Cricket. Obviously it has to. Tell me one thing, if someone breaks a windowpane of yours, do you invite him for dinner, since both are not related?

Pakistan won the world cup by 8 wkts! Although I was not supporting them... But in some corner of my heart I'm pleased for them... As they needed it desperately to put cricket back on track in their country... And without Pakistan playing good cricket, it becomes boring...

my previous posts have been misunderstood or may be i was not able to convey my thoughts effectively. the topic of discussion was supporting a team in the finals, where i thought many fellow members were supporting lanka only for the fact that they were against pak. in the finals. many people gave the reason that they are patriotic and passionate by supporting the lankan team against pakistan. this is what my argument was, if the final was indian Vs pak. then this feeling of patriotism and passion is fair. but i wonder how one could be so patriotic in a srilanka -pakistan game, and how it is justified. anyways, pakistan team is world champion, and they deserved it. Despite lack of international cricket exposure for past 1-2 yrs., the pakistan 'A' team was able to achieve this feat. this will only do good to pakistan and world cricket.

IMO...the result of this was as per expectations. The whole bloody thing was fixed right from the start.

I can see the way they played is not upto their mark but just on one performance telling its fixed is not so good. That may the luck factor too who knows..! But what ever the reason may be the truth is Pak has won the WC thats all.. "Reasons dont matter, Result does"

Now-a-days, whenever the results are out of the blue, people cry "match fixing". I am not saying that it is not possible but it is more and more unlikely because there are more sleuths watching the players and tactics.

I think Pakistan played well and they deserved to win.

I agree, That was not match Fixing, There is always more chance of upset in T-20, Also why so chaos when pakistan beats SA and Srilanka(They can), I wasn't supporting them for other reason but they really have some quality players, Look at Umar Gul, You won't find best death bowler, And afridi is so inconsistent but luckily he clicked at right time..

That's not match fixing, That was pure cricket... Pakistan Deserve the Win...
