After a 102 run opening partnership Holland did very well to restrict England to 162.
And now they are giving England a good fight with the bat too... I hope Holland starts this WC with a surprise ...

Netherlands Won the Match ... Wow... what a finish ... Mazaa aa gaya ...unk:

Lol...England is too much, They atleast miss half a dozen chance of runouts, Netherland deserve that win..Good one netherland :tt2:
So it begins with a surprise. Will be happy to see more if India is not involved.
We'll see today.

hopefully no surprises when India's playing.......

I dont think Scotland can win it now ... The score was enough to defend but very poor bowling ..
------------------
Remember NZ is the biggest threat to India in T20 ... I would love to see NZ not qualifying to super eights
Nz Won... Good Game ...
Which team do you choose for the next match? Aussies / Windies?
Windies![]()
Aussies Struggling  .. 3.3 overs - 15/3
 It has become a trend now that if aussie's struggle or loose everybody will be happy, even if its not against us![]()

Windies won.India won
:clap::clap::clap:
Ya both were very good matches![]()
Good news. India won but not without causing some worry during their batting. It was only because of Yuraj's belligerence (41 of 18) that we managed to get a decent total. After restricting Bangladesh to 155 for 8, they achieved the expected victory. The Indian team must have learnt something from the 50-50 World Cup, 2007 and the previous (opening) ENG-NETH match.
Australia's loss to WI means that they have a must win game against SL. This group is toughest group having no minnows. The possibilities in this group are interesting:
a) SL defeat AUS: AUS out of the tournament. SL/WI match become inconsequential apart from who carries points to Super 8.
b) AUS defeat SL but SL defeat WI: Net runrate will come into picture. Again most likely, AUS will be out.
c) SL loose to AUS and WI: SL out.
It is another reason why I do not like this format and groups. Make no mistake. I am happy that AUS is loosing. But this format is not a true test at all. One bad day in office and you are fired from the job. Remember that India and Pakistan were victims of similar situation in the 2007 WC.

Yes, Indian batting struggled a bit before Yuvraj's & I.Pathan's brilliant finish. I dont think the talks about friction between Dhoni & Sehwag are totally rumour. Ignoring Sehwag will be the biggest mistake for Dhoni. Even if Sehwag plays, not putting him in the openng slot may let the team down.
Dhoni is a sensible cricketer - No doubt about it. But, at times he gets too much defensive. The kind of innings he played last night was of no good. He doesnt at all needs to bat at No.3 when there is Suresh Raina. Dhoni should be batting at No.5 or 6. He just takes singles and twos and when the time comes to accelerate - He simply gets out.
Yuvraj, Raina, Y.Pathan must be given more time on the crease. No batsman can come to the crease and start hitting sixes.
Not only Aus needs to win against SL, but they need to win it by handsome margin. West Indies defeated Aus with more than 4 overs to spare.
The same scenaro is with England. They must defeat Pakistan and with a big margin.
All the possibilites mentioned by j4k are also on for England, Pakistan and Netherlands group:
a) Pakistan beats England: England out of the tournament.
b) England beats Pakistan & Pakistan beats Netherlands: Net Run Rate
c) Pkaistan loose to Netherland and England: Pakistan out.
But, one very possible scenario which also applies for Aus's grp is this:
d) Pakistan Beats Netherlands. England vs Pakistan match washed out due to rain. England out of the WC. This will be most unfortunate. the forcast says it will rain during England - Pakistan Match.[/quote]
This is the beauty of World cup cricket.Tournaments/Cups are always of this format. Teams get more chances in leagues like IPL.
@sk,
A true test of a champion is when s/he or the team faces all round challenge and still comes on top. Now I admit that, this is not possible in individual sports such as Tennis but for team sports where teams are limited, this should be possible.
My suggestion is as follows:
a) There are 12 teams.
b) They should have been divided into two groups of six each
c) They would play within their groups and top four from each would go into the super eight.
The first stage (group stage) of the WC in the current format is taking only 12 matches. Your suggestion means that there will be a minimum of 30 matches in the group stage only. This is too much for a tournament involving many teams. This is the main reason why teams are divided in small groups in most major tournaments in any sports. In Football WC, or UEFA Champions league also, the teams are divided in groups of 4.
The format you suggested will also completely rule out the chances of a few minnow teams qualifying for the next round.
This is a championship, my dear. Minnows or anyone must win to qualify for every successive stage.
Granted that the championship will become too long but this kind of format brings to me memories of the ridiculous rain rule of the 1992 WC championship in Australia.
The football world cup is entirely a different proposition. Football is a true universal game and is played by almost every country. Those who qualify for the FWC are not minnows at all, although there is a kind of quota system out there. Even then, the best of the best qualify.
