About LinkBacksCricket WC is with 8 main teams and 4 minnows.
Football world cup consist of 32 teams who come out of more than 200 teams.
in terms of shear competition, no match at all.

Ok. Leave the point about Minnows i mentioned. But, the tournament getting long is a major factor which acts against large groups.

P.S - even in fifa wc, less experienced and weaker teams do surprise us sometimes. Like Senegal did in 2002 WC. and Greece did in Euro Euro 2004.
Now, if there were two groups only, Senegal would have to face 15 other teams to even qualify for the quarter-finals. That wouldnt have been possible. Thats why I said, large groups completely rules out the possibility of a few minnows to surprise us.

Hmm. This will be a never ending debate. I have nothing against minnows surprising the pundits. But you must agree that the current format is too cruel. When it goes with the tide, there will be no complaints but when there are upsets it does do well for the tournament attraction.

the whole purpose of 20-20 format was to perhaps make cricket compatible to the time format of football or hockey.
I wonder how did thy select the groups???? i mean with our group its India Ireland n Bangladesh whereas there is SL, Windies & Aus....
is there a specific format to divide the teams ???
India won the match thanks to Yuvi knock & Ojha's bowling.
But I do not understand why Dhoni is coming 1 down. We have got Raina who is in very good form.Only Dhoni knows.
When Sehwag returns back, whom are they going to drop...
Upset is what makes game interesting, Sri-Lankan team changed after 1996 WC, Before that i would treat SL as minnows only, Same is with india 1983 WC, The team was treated as minnows only, And after that everything changed..
According to me the current format is perfect, Though i want more matches just like IPL, But that would be too tiring for players... I know some day you don't perform but that's not excuse, If you're best try to maintain that thing...

yes dhoni has been playing much slower than he used too be4.....
England are now sure to play the super-eights. now the competition is between Holland and Pakistan.
South-Africa at the moment looks the strongest side.
Dhoni needs to change his thinking a bit, otherwise Indian team will have very tough time ahead.
- Never break the opening partnership of Gambhir-Sehwag
- Must play Sehwag if he is fit
- Rohit Sharma is a very good finisher as we saw in a few matches of Deccan-Chargers. Rohit sharma should come to bat at no.6 to fnish games and to stabilize the innings in case we loose quick wickets in the top and middle order any day.
Can't say much about other points but I think he shouldn't come @ No. 3, when he got yuvi and raina for that position
I think when india lost openers in say 10-20 runs then only dhoni should come to bat..Else he's good at no 5..
Exactly, dhoni doesn't seems to be in 100% form then there is no need to come down at no. 3 when Yuvi and raina are running in their greatest form.
Raina is in tremendous form, So is Rohit, so is yuvi and god help opposition when yusuf fires, I mean there are lot of potential players in indian side that makes dhoni's position to be dodgy..I just hope indian play according to their potential, aur uske baad to "Yeh Cup Kahi Nahi Jaega"

Before the match, Dhoni clarified that there is nothing between him and Sehway, those are just rumours, hope he is not lying and sehwag gets fit(if he is not) soon and do the blast in important coming matches.
There's always been ego clash in indian team (If that's the case in Dhoni-Sehwag), Just hope sehwag play in next match... So what's your speculation, which team will come out of first round?
