So guys did you saw Sri-Lanka and Windies match yesterday? Then you must have not forgotten the amazing fielding by sri-lanka player angelo matthews.. He took catch, Couldn't hold so he threw the ball in air and then he again slaps the ball beyond the boundary.. That was real debatable topic because umpire was also not sure so they did not give that ball as boundary, Now the rule comes..

MCC sent out a press release earlier. . This is regarding the superb stop by Angelo Mathews..

John Stephenson, MCC Assistant Secretary, said:

"The MCC Laws sub-committee had recently discussed fielding such as this and felt that such brilliant and quick-thinking acts should not be out-lawed. MCC is happy with the Law as it is written and occurrences such as the one yesterday, while extremely rare, are good for the game of cricket as a whole. It is also pleasing that two of the committee's members were involved in making the correct decision on the field of play.

    Law, 19.3, states:

    Scoring a boundary

    (a) A boundary shall be scored and signalled by the umpire at the bowler's end whenever, while the ball is in play, in his opinion

    (i) the ball touches the boundary, or is grounded beyond the boundary.

(ii) a fielder, with some part of his person in contact with the ball, touches the boundary or has some part of his person grounded beyond the boundary.

    (b) The phrases 'touches the boundary' and 'touching the boundary' shall mean contact with either (i) the boundary edge as defined in 2 above

or (ii) any person or obstacle within the field of play which has been designated a boundary by the umpires before the toss.

    (c) The phrase 'grounded beyond the boundary' shall mean contact with

either (i) any part of a line or a solid object marking the boundary, except its boundary edge

or (ii) the ground outside the boundary edge

or (iii) any object in contact with the ground outside the boundary edge.
Fair enough, But my question is if that ball couldn't given as boundary then why the batsman is given out when his bat or body is in air?

Yes, I saw that instance. Something which will have to be looked into by the lawmakers of the game.

Harsha Bhogle made an important assumption: What is a fielder stands inside the boundary line when the ball is being bowled and moves outside the boundary line in case a big shot comes his way and jumps and pushes the ball inside!! This surely is not fair. This was the case yesterday.

    Very Strange indeed.

Absolutely, That was rare, so nobody was sure... Nonetheless great commitment and presence of mind by matthews..

Yes, full marks to Matthews for quick thinking. But, with this new way of saving boundary/six, We may see such attempts in near future. May be in this WC itself.

I personally think that the shot should have been declared as a SIX.

    India v/s SA
    or
    India v/s Eng

India's last match in super-eights is against SA. I wont like this match to be a must win situation for India. I would like India to win both the matches against England and WI coz it will be very difficult to beat SA.

The same thing applies for SA. If India looses either one of the matches with England or WI, the match against SA will be a must win. Now, If SA looses today, then the last match against India will be a must win for them also. I dont want this situation. If SA manage to qualify before the match against India, they may play that match a bit lightly resting some important players which may benefit India.

yes thats correct, Ind can beat both Eng and WI easily so SA should not be a must win match, but if times comes like that we should be prepared for that also

Yes sure. No two teams from the same super-eight group will play semi-final against each other. They may again meet in Final

Too easy for NZ and SA, I was kinnda sure about England and i'm also sure that SA chokes in Last match :tt2:, Just like previous version of WC20/20..

    Anyways Today's Match

    Pakistan Vs Sri-Lanka
My money on lanka, They are actually kind of side which can scare india, Good batting lineup, Good spin attack which started to work,Medis is on wicket taking form, I don't think there is much chance for pakistan(Good for us)..

    India Vs West-Indies
One mantra, Get chris gayle early and you'll win the match... End of the story :tt2:

If Dhoni comes to bat at No.3 - India will loose. :32: I have no idea why he is doing this. He has completely lost his ability to hit big shots. he takes singles and twos, almost about run a ball and gets out when the time comes to accelerate. raina, yousuf pathan, yuvi must be given more time on the crease.
