    Default Ashes 2009!

I am amazed to see no thread on Ashes!

The battle for pride started yesterday.

England won the toss and decided to bat first.

    Day 1:

    132 runs patnership between pieterson(69) and collingwood(64).

    Half century from Prior too.

    Day2:

England will try hard to cross 400 run mark, still got 2 wickets in hand.

    Current score:

    355/8 in 94 overs

From Australia side, Johnson have been the most successful bowler till now, took 3 wickets out of 8.

Thanks Manish for starting this thread..The Ashes have begun...
End of Day 2, tis Advantage Australia...Great knock by Katich & Punter..
Punter has a great chance of overtaking Sachin's (no of centuries) in this series...

Its Ashes which can save the 'Test Match Cricket'...If not Ashes then nothing can save Test Match Cricket..

A real pounding by the Aussies. The English bowlers were completely out of sorts.

Test cricket is still the real cricket.
Unfortunately, BCCI does not think so and concentrate more on ODIs and T20s. So Sachin's records have no chance of getting better and soon all of them would be broken by players of countries who play Tests more.

It was a great fightback though I must say that rain on 4th day saved England's ass - but that is part and parcel of the game.

England has to be careful now. All the media was saying how AUS are now weak and ENG strong, especially on home turf. I will say that they were lucky to get away.

Correct! But I liked the way it ended, I don't like to see aussie winning.
    Great performance by England tailenders.

On test cricket, I totally agree with 5bhoot, that BCCI should give more emphasize on test cricket as well. Test cricket is the gentleman form of the game.

Glad to note that many people still enjoy Test Cricket. I though guy like 5bhoot, F, me, etc. were the ones on the verge of extinction.

Good God! England won the second test at Lords and not even a post here? England won a Lords' test vs. Australia after 75 years (1934). And that was their only win in the 20th century there, the previous being 1896 (or something like that).

    Trivia:
Did you know that Australia and England always follow some kind of pattern for their test match schedules?
    - In England, the second match (out of a four/five test series) is usually played at Lords. The last one is usually at the Oval.
    - In Australia, the pattern is: first test at Brisbane while the last alternates between Adelaide or Sydney.

I was to post on England's victory but completely foget to post it. It was a good win for the English. The Aussie media may slam the poor umpiring, but I do not complain. Because... Beimano ke saath Beimani he hoti hai

Australia has the last right to complain against any umpiring blunders. Remember the Sydney test.

I still remember that Sydney test...To be honest I never consider that India lost that series. For me, it was a drawn series.

& I was really happy to see the same thing happening to the Aussies..

To be fair to Australian media, they did slam their own team as well as umpiring during that (Sydney) test.

Default Ashesh -2009 - 3rd Test, Edgbaston, Birmigham

After a good start by Shane Watson and Simon Katich, Australia suffered a minor collapse.

They lost 3 wickets in the space of 40 odd runs. Currently, Michael Clarke and Marcus North are doing some rearguard action.

Latest score: Australia (1st innings) - 180/4 in 47 overs

Well needed draw for Australia, great batting performance by Clarke 103*, awarded as the man of the match.

Well, Fouth test starting this friday, lot of thing depends on the upcoming test.
