Charles Coventry 194 runs, equalled Highest Run Score in ODI's
He made 194, the 12-year record has been equalled. Saeed Anwar got the same score against India in Chennai during the Independence Cup in 1997. Coventry should have received more strike at the end, that couple by Utseya, in hindsight, was perhaps not the right call. Coventry leads the players off the field, his team congratulates him with a guard of honour as he walks towards the pavilion.

    Charles Coventry - Zimbabwe

    Born: Mar 8, 1983
    Age: 26 years
    Batting style: Right Hand Batsman
Bowling style: Right Arm leg break

    not bad.
some 26 years ago, during the World Cup, a lone Indian stood among the ruins to score 175 unbeaten against Zimbabwe, to create a world record.
Today the world has come full circle for Zimbabwe.

I feel sorry for him. Such opportunities do not come again.

Whatever. We are not comparing Saeed Anwar's 194 to this one. The batman did not choose the opposition or the bowling line up.

You may get poor opposition, weak bowling, etc. But balls have to be hit to score all those runs.

It is a life time opportunity. One may never get such an occasion again.

A century is a century. Stats don't show any difference.

In the afternoon, I saw Zimbabwe were struggling at some 120 for 4. Later in the evening I just checked the TV, I saw Bangladesh required some 160 runs from 22 overs. At that stage B'desh were some 150 for 2. I was wondering how come Zimbabwe scored so many runs. Then I checked Cricinfo & found that this person Charles Coventry scored 194* to equal Anwar's record. Its a great effort. Kudos to Charles Coventry
