An angered ICC put a one year ban on Firoz shah Kotla ground from hosting international matches. This is in the wake of recent bad pitch disaster during India -Srilanka match. The action is based on the report from match referee Alan Hurst which says the wicket prepared for the fifth and final ODI of India –Srilanka series was of not suitable for an international match. The match was held on 27th December 2009 and was abandoned after 23.3 overs after Srilanka team expressed doubt about the pitch. The pitch was displaying an unusual bounce which made it difficult for the Srilankans to bat. Tillakaratne Dilshan took a ball on his left arm which bounced unexpectedly causing much pain to the batsman. Indian skipper Mahindra Singh Dhoni also failed to collect a delivery from Sudeep Tyagi. When the score was 83 for 5, Srilankan skipper intervened and discussed the issue with his Indian counterpart and Umpire causing the match to get abandoned.
