NewDelhi's infrastructure sucks big timeI would be surprised if participants make it on time to the stadiums given the traffic jams we have here ever day
I am sure will be able to make it a great show, i live in sadiq nagar know which is just a part of asian games site and there is a stadium near to my home too and trust me they are working 24*7 and chaning everything, the place which was like a dead land now it's fully loaded with trucks and cranes working all day all nite.
Already got new look on roads and bus stops are great, got seprate cycle lane and speakers installed on signals

I heard that the infrastructure for the games are lagging.....Will they be able to complete on time....
ya i think they can meet deadlines before date too... they are working 24*7 and its just changing like anything

As you may or may not be aware but Pune is hosting the Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) starting on Oct-10, 2008 (next week). This is how the state of the affair is:
a) City Roads - barely ready. Till 15 days ago they were in a mess and now they started overnight operations to make them OK. What should have been completed at least 3 months ago, is still not done.
b) Stadia: The games are 1 week away and the testing of the floodlights was started yesterday. The main stadium was already existing (it needed sprucing up). The stadia may be complete just in time.
c) Parking: Out of the 12 designated parking areas near the complex, only 5 are ready.
d) Bridges/Flyovers/Bypasses: Only two flyovers were constructed. Both are just operational and that too only partly.
e) Highway: A lot of places still damaged. What they will do now is some quick surfacing that will not last a year.

Although I too doubt about it but I really pray that we comes out as a real entertainer...everything goes well..its a matter of our nation respect..i just pray the authorities taking care for the games joins hand together and work together towards our nation glory
I would be surprised if everything that is needed for the games gets ready on time... Almost everything is running behind scedule.
I have no idea where are all the participants going to stay? Delhi hotels are almost always busy and there are no new big projects coming up either and the bed and breakfast scheme in Delhi has hardly any takers. Se are the participants going to stay at distant places like Agra and Jaipur and travel to Delhi on the day of events? Thats a big no no given the traffic situation from both the cities and a lot of them would miss the big games.
The only hope I had was the Gmr project thats coming up but its 2009 already I very much doubt it that a big hotel can be built in such a short time span.

I hope the authorities are also feeling the same pressure...If someone knows them please let them know, its really big event for our country and lot of our nations esteems depends upon it, so wake up guys, we have to prove ourselves...we can still do it..

I saw in the news that many of the projects related to CW 2010 has not been yet started..
I fear it will be a flop show...If it is so, then it will be a big shame for our country.
i hope india does host the commonwealth games successfully ... but a few months ago i saw some disappointing news regarding the preparations and the stadium ... the stadium is delhi is still not fully prepared and after some workers died in an accident in the stadium work more controversies were created ... am i right about this news?
