I do not know what most people think about chinese mobile sets. I watched them closely for few months. As my own hanset Nokia 1108 was getting old day by day, it was the right time to switch over. I took a calculated risk and decided to go for a chinese set.

On 25/11/2008 i purchased SHENMATEL V82+ chinese make, it is black dual sim and very good looking. Shopowner was asking for Rs.3000/- but i told him to quote without media card as most of these chinese Micro SD seem to carry imprint of poor quality. For RS.8000/- we purchased three same sets. Transend 2 GB Micro SD card with lifetime warranty cost us Rs 250/- per piece. In nutshell in less than Rs.3000/- i got my chinese set. This set came with two Nokia type batteries and a mobile charger. I can also use my old Nokia charger for that i purchased changer to adjust to new pin of my new mobile. One USB cable and One earplug is also bundled for FM. I am still surprised how come they fitted so much of functions in a set which our renowned Mobile maker are offering at a much much higher price. (Please for Gods sake do not warn me of the consequences). I started this thread and i think i must share this with other members of the formum

well, let us know how the chineese set is working over a period of time. Many people including me believe that they are sub-standard so it would be good to get a first hand account from u. Also give a pic of the mobile (to know how it looks) and a brief description of its features if u please.......

Basically, I hate Chinese product. Today, there is hardly any product that do not carry Chinese stamp. Worst came to my life when after two days of installation I saw empty box of my .8 ton Voltas AC stamped MADE IN CHINA. It was unbelievable and my ‘Vande Matram’ faith was completely shaken.

1. The Chinese set, that I have, carry Nokia look. My cousin says it resembles Nokia N 70. Build quality seems to be very good.

2. So far so good. I keep on experimenting. Only one setback till now, I prepared few seconds movie with video recorder. While replaying, at the end of movie handset became cold and could be revived only when I removed and reinserted battery.

3. Battery life is another aspect I am keeping my eyes upon. Right now, it is not that bad with so much features on the board. With all battery consuming features I give 6-7 out of 10 for battery response.

4. Camera quality , feature I am not comfortable with, is average (2 Megapixel). Sound output is very very good. Handset says, it supports MP3, MPEG4 and 3D sound. I tried Bluetooth successfully. FM quality is also very good. Hand free function is loud enough to listen and respond with set in hand at fair distance. Most of the functions in this handset I am able to call and close with stylus that is functioning perfectly with precision.

5. All three sets are functioning very well even after 5 days of running experience. My friend’s bulky handset that he purchased 4 months ago is also functioning very well despite his 5 years old very naughty son.

6. I hesitate to bargain and always in hurry to get out of shop. A little bit of investigation could have easily saved Rs.300/to Rs.500/- per set I have reason to believe so.

7. Whoever is having a Chinese set is a victim of my snatching and subsequent enquiry. I have arrived at a conclusion. Of late, most importers in India were importing from third class Chinese or Taiwanese companies for their maximum profit but there definitely exist second and first class. In a shop you will find product of both third and second class. Good quality second class products are making there way very rapidly. My handset is such second class.

8. Four months ago when my friend purchased his handset shopkeeper offered to pay 30% extra and get six months warranty on Chinese sets. Payment through credit card was also accepted.

9. This time I asked for bill for this hand set and shopkeeper was ready to give bill by my paying tax. Even box of this handset is of good quality with two magnet sticking buttons. Sticker of importer with full real address is also conspicuously pasted. In due course I will check IMEI of all three sets and will let you know.

Please suggest how I can attach error free screenshots by various methods.

dont quite get u there.
well, by chinese phones we r reffering to the low priced cells from china which r modelled after famed nokia/samsung phones and have almost all possible features. We are not talking about original nokia/sam.../branded phones made in a chinese factory.

I checked IMEI number of two such sets. IMEI numbers of these sets are different and report of numberingplans.com goes like this:

Motorola factor i am working upon. What is the interpretation! Any clue!

upload the screenshots and I will try , i have thoughts. But to be sure, have to see the models. Was there any website name in the phone or in the box. If so, post it too.

Due to certain pre-occupations I was unable to post for a long time. Hope attached screen shot will give some idea. Any idea why IMEI is showing chinese mobile as Motorola make.

they chan change hardware data , thats how these guys are now selling 70 Mb memory cards as 4 GB

Please look at my post dated 30/11/2008 this is a report that I got from numberingplan.com. Yes, IMEI of this Chinese set says this is Motorola. Unable to solve this mystery yet!.

A number of people purchase pen drive from Palika Bazar (Delhi). 16 GB and 32 GB as cheap as Rs.200/- and Rs.400/-. One expert suggested that once you format these drive they will show their real memory. But one thing I am sure of, build quality of such drives are extremely poor. One such drive escaped my hand and broke into pieces before I could experiment with formatting.

u dont need to experiment, it happened in front of my eyes, 4gb became 500mb

I hope Chinaman does nt sell Flash Drives under standard company names ?

Otherwise it would be difficult to make out a fake from an original
