    Smile Notification Message for Reputation Recieved

    Two days back I was looking @ the forum stats. I noticed my name under "Top Reputations*". Then i looked @ "User Control Panel" to see for which post have I recieved. Hadn't I looked @ the stats & User Control Panel I wouldnt have known that I have recieved reputation points.

    I dont go to the stats & User Control Panel page very often. So people who go those 2 pages very often may find that they have recieved reputation points. But what about people who dont vist those pages often. How about having a notification message (pop up) for reputation points recieved like we recieve when we get some new message or a new friend request. When people get reputation,they must be notified.

    Kindly let me know your suggestion...

    How do know that you recieved reputation for any of your post?
    You go the User Control Panel & in the bottom (Latest Reputation Received), you will find the total reputation points,for which posts you have got the reputation,date, & the comments.Unless you go to the User Cp page or to the stats page you wont know whether you have recieved any reputation points. What if a member has recieved a reputation & he dosen't visit the User Cp page (if depends on how often he visits that page). Giving reputation is like motivating the member,to make him feel that others liked this posting, to make him feel that he is part of this forum (a sense of belongingness) (correct me if Iam wrong). Only if the member gets notified about the reputation recieved...the whole purpose of motiviation gets fulfilled.

    We can a pop notification (like when we recieve a notification for some new message or a new friend request). When we click ok,it must take us to the User Control Panel Page (Latest Reputation Received).

    Oh sorry I didn't commented on that previously, I got dragged by Diwali theme idea!!

    What you're advicing is really good..the person will feel motivated to post more but on the other hand I believe that almost each one of us i.e. regular members are aware of checking there repo..but still I support your idea

    @sp21bro
    Admin said he does nt want to explain about rep system as it can be misused ....... I think i agree with him ..... Cause i accidentally discovered how this rep system works .... and yes it can be misused [in a way] .....

    @Admin
    But Admin i think the current system [especially talking about Rep point limitations] /*Pls spread some love before repo ing this person */ is best suited when there are atleast a few members with post count like that of J4k's current .....

    Its a good idea!

    But maybe its something that Admin can look into, but i suppose if the facility to check it yourself in user cp is there, then its ok, as im sure no one gets bombarded with reputations everyday!

    J4K i have a suggestion cum doubt, cant the rules to rep some one change ? because nobody here seems to have a clear idea about rep rules and there are many people here who deserve rep's for the thing they post but cant rep them at that time and later we forget it, so any changes in the rep system possible ?

    ^^ the thing is that every user has to rep a minimum no of different persons before he can rep the same person again.

    This setting is controlled by admin via vbulletin. Unfortunately for our forum, each and every forum upgrade messes something or other, usually in the form of setting all values to their defaults.

    So in this case it means that each user will have to rep several unique users b4 giving reps to the same person.

    Ya i know this much but how many members we have to rep ? that we dont know and cant that be reduced to a 3 or 4 because just roughly only 15 members are regular and post such things where we require to give rep's but unfortunately now i am in such a position where i cant rep anybody not even Admin, J4K, Smoothie. now forcibly i have to go to some old thread and rep some useless posts. So what i want is, can this problem be solved ? let the Admin only come and solve it but if we decide and discuss the +ve & -ve points it will be easy for Admin to do it.

    it has been discussed so many times. as with many other issues, admin hardly has time to address the issue or he forgets them.

    if I remember right, last time he said that 10 was the absolute minimum (unless dhanno can find another mod for this) present in the software, but i have a feeling it has beeen set it to its default value...
