Thread: Why new user are not able to post URLs

Hi,

I am surprised to see that new users are not able to post link before their post no reach to 15. Why so? This is the first forum where i found this kind of thing.

This is done in order to prevent spam posts.

Thanks for reply but by doing so one can't contribute to forum even if he's something to contribute.

I tried last night but got error that my total post are not 15 so i can't post URL..

why would it stop you from contributing, that's weird!, and there are a lot of forums who don't allow you to post links before a certain number of posts, and some don't allow you to post links at all!

Like Ramesh said its to stop spam!

If we did not have this and a few more restrictions in place then this place would not be as spam free as it is now although some cheeky people still sneak in and do their act whcih our members then very kindly report and thats promptly removed as well.

Getting 15 decent posts is not so difficult.
These security measure are present on most good forums...like IBB
