Besides the judges, others could vote on the thread. Judges marks will count 75% and others' marks 25%.

Contest entries to have minimum 100 words not counting common words like articles, prepositions, suppositions, etc.

Excerpts of text copied from elsewhere (even if retyped) not allowed.

No topics related to jokes, movie reviews, etc. We can expand the list with mutual consent.

will these be possible to implement manually? as the contest grows keeping track of all these aspects/calculations will become very difficult unless there is an automated system.

Heavy prize money to encourage participation. Top prize of Rs. 10K (?) with blessings from admin.[*]No limit on entries per person.[*]Judges may also participate but cannot vote on their own entry.

Admin and Mods can revoke points or disqualify entry if it is felt that there is partiality.

Yes - Partiality... this is the main concern which i am trying to express again and again.

Majorly I don't have any isssues with this, but I will request if we implement this, try to choose some common section, I mean, where both Tech and non-tech guys (like me) can participate.

I see it completely the other way round. the highest poster contest attracted many new users who now have become regulars on the forum.

A humble request.

Please do not put a cap on no of words. It will be nice if we have an approval system if the no of words is higher than cap (if cap cannot be avoided).

For some topics, we need to be extravagant in use of words to explain properly and in a simple manner.

:w00t::001_tt2: i know u were not talking about me. even i was talking about other winners. it is quite obvious that the participation after the contest has reduced from some members but no one among the winners actually left after getting the money. at least i think so.

You are absolutely right. Some users who were active then have become dormant now. And a few who were active before the contest became quiet during the contest and since then gone underground. I will not take names. Suffice to say that we never intended all that.

Agreed, and have not much doubts.
But, where will the panel members and others vote?
Will it be through PM, or will we be having any new special add-on or mod for serving that purpose?

Panel members can be anyone. Before the contest we can invite people. Admin/Mods will be automatic choice and the others can be selected on "first come first served" basis. But the judges will have to go thru the terms and conditions and pledge to uphold the rules. It will be like typical jury selection in USA - 12 angry men and all that. That was exactly my idea - Admin + 2 mods + 12 members of the jury.

It can't be much reliable.
I would say that anywhere about 250-300 words (or, according to everyone's opinion) should be the minimum word count required to be eligible for the contest.

The reason I said 100 words is because many of the people find difficult to muster even those many words. Our previous writing contests were a challenge to many, not excluding yours truly.

We have had this rule in our old Writing Contest also. And, plagiarism also needs to be controlled.

That will what the member panel will do. Last time, it became a herculean task to hunt for plagarized text. And that led to some not so pleasant arguments. But hopefully, this time, it may not be the case.

As said earlier, we will post a request ... "Invitation for judging the contest". The post will include terms and conditions and undertakings. Some T&C could be:
1. The past record
2. Minimum 300 posts
3. Minimum membership time of 3 months
4. Judges must read and vote on all contest entries, etc.

What I meant was that thread for contest could be on any topic but posted in a single forum section only.
