| Platinum Member | I was quite annoyed today when the New Posts search function brought up a large number of old/dead threads. I request each and every one of you not to bump such old threads. If I see that happening, I will ban the id for 7 days. Hope you understand the reason behind this.

Rep Power: 10 | The only solution to avoid this again is to close all the OLD THREADS. I know its a bit tough job... |

I am sorry. But, I couldn't get it. I mean that I don't understand which dead threads are being digged out, and please forgive me if I missed any incident in the forums.

| I bumped only one old thread today. http://www.indiabroadband.net/hollyw...-all-time.html (Best mystery movie of all time?) I used to post movie reviews in this thread. Saw a good mystery movie recently. Thought of sharing it. Didnt want to open a separate thread for that. I am sorry. would keep it in mind from now on. |

| Platinum Member | The main reason not to bump old/dead threads is that, the search results get skewed. Some important threads that need better attention (especially tech threads) get missed. I am fairly regular. In the afternoon, I looked at quite a few threads, and (if I remember correctly), I thought that I had left with about 90+ threads still unread. When I logged in the evening today (after a 2 or 3 hours), I found that that the number had risen dramatically to 170+. This gives the suspicion that someone was spamming. But there was no spamming. Instead old threads came up first on the search results. |

Rep Power: 7 | Say if we forget to give an update on an old thread, then what? Or if someone new comes to the forum, and they go to an old thread which is relevant to what they want? I suppose this has no affect to old thread which are still active, does it? |

I am not saying that you cannot update an old thread at any time. But one must take a sound and calculated judgement. p/s. The thread starter has full right to update the old thread (however old) - anytime and any number of times. Today, all sorts of old threads got updated.
