:no: j4k's original content was in an attachment. not a direct post. thats why search engines might not have recognized the duplicate content as duplicate ...

It is complex ... depends on various factors. Admin will be the best person to answer this ...

By copied content I meant jokes, news items etc, which are copied from other sources...

yes, copied contents get SE penalities. but it also depends on the SEO of the site. sometimes the site with duplicate content acquires higher ranking than the sites with original content.

almost all jokes, news items can be found copied on many sites. all depends on SEO :32: (ye SEO itna complex kyun hai!!? )

Its better to post articles/guides directly. It will be good both for the forum's search engine results and also will discourage plagiarism.

The problem is that it is cumbersome to write a pictorial guide on the forum.

a) Each post is allowed 5 pictures only.
b) The attached picture is not automatically embedded. You have to put [ATTACH] bb code manually.
c) Writing a guide takes time and hence it is better done offline.

why can you first post it in separate posts and then merge all of them into one

you can obviously use http://www.indiabroadband.net/images/editor/attach.gif icon to paste all of them at once...

True, its the best way...

I do use the attach icon to load picture simultaneously. But I still have to write ATTACH attachment number /ATTACH manually.

In another forum where I was a member, as soon as I uploaded a picture, it was embedded immediately.

Also merging of posts is not possible if there are more than 5 pictures in the post.

This is now my first priority. I will get this issue resolved asap.

The guide was stolen by member 'nayaksan' who was a member here from 1-Aug-2008 till 16-Aug-2008 (last activity date).
