    That is really irritating.

    @kixi
    Have you reported it?

    Hmmmm, Would it still copyright infringement if he/she make your thread as source?

    I mean it can be done from their side after you reported?

    @kixi

    You can give a reply there and ask the author/poster to remove it himself (if it is possible in Scribd). You can have a link to your source here in IBB with that reply, and warn the person.

    Yes. I think this should be the first step in such case. I read an article on how to handle such cases.. what are the things the original author can do if someone copies his content. The article listed 5-6 steps in sequential manner. I cannot find the article at this moment. But the first step was to Request the Duplicate Author to Removie it. This works most of the time.

    Yes. I could warn the author. But I will have to register first - and I abhore registering at sites for no reason at all. Anyway, but I have already complained to the Copyright Agent.

    @j4k

    just have a second thought. why is the first step recommended by most people as requesting the duplicate author to remove the content:

    Many people/beginner bloggers/scribd users etc etc are not always aware of these copyright issues. now, if on the first instance someone complains to the website copyright agent or the ad networks(like adsense) which that person is using - He will get banned. this will be very unfortunate for people unaware about the copyright laws. isnt it!!?

    ^ Just my Thought..

    In this case, only the article will be removed and probably the user will be given a warning. This is just a common way through which a user becomes aware.

    Just like children under some age (I think it's 10) are given concession for almost anything they do, every new user is given atleast a small concession.

    I am suspecting that this guy is a one off freak. He does not have anything else listed/posted. He may have posted and then just gone dormant.

    good guess... yep may be a contender but some how i am not getting the feeling that it is him.
    If he was so attentive and kind to read the attachments and all, that too of routers then he would have never been shown the way out

    It began with testing of Google hits of IBF. I just wanted to know how our forum ranks there. So when I started looking at "BSNL UT-300R2U WRT54G" I came with the hit in scribd.

    No. I don't think it was him.

    Great news. Scribd had disabled the access to the document after my complaint. Very professional of them.

    Thanks, KK.

    @all, please do keep a watch on copyrighted content for all our members -anyone's guides could be copied. Admin told me that my guides are particularly vunerable because they are attachments. The proper way is to have them as content in the article but since my guides contain a lot of pictures and site limits 5 pictures per post, it becomes that much difficult.

    Thank you for your support.

    No surprise
    If you do take the time to go through Scribd ... you ll notice that it is full of Pirated material .... just like torrents ....

    only difference is they take down the stuff once they are warned

    Yes. This is the first thing which came to my mind when i saw this thread..!

    Its better to post articles/guides directly. It will be good both for the forum's search engine results and also will discourage plagiarism.
