Thread: Jokes, Yard and Offtopic

Is there anything we can do to get our dear members interested in the subforums other ten the ones mentioned in the topic of this thread?

We are all creating a massive junk yard out of this forum... :48:

Check out the last 25 posts shown at the bottom of the forum... I dont see anything other then the yard and jokes and offtopic... where is this world coming to?

Can we please do something to make sure we remain India broadband forum and not become India junk forum?

Please let me know if I can be of any help... I am going to be a regular in the tech sections from now on to make sure tech sections dont die away ...

That's why I say we IBF is more appropriate. I might remain in tech. sections more but I want to increase my post count first.

First we must clean up the yard section. Mods have telling this for a long time but this has never happened.

Well but many threads are quiet interesting there.

I think we can remove the Yard & jokes section. So there wouldn't be place to post the junk.

Admin, dont mind, but can you upgrade the forum, i dont how it works out for you but a better script can help, once the improved forum starts up, we can then assign new config like new topics, sub-forums and super mod status and etc. . . I think IBF is advanced enough to do this change, hope i am not wrong.

Yards should not be delete neither jokes section as people will start reposting thing they have done till now.

I have been saying something like this for a long time. The Yard section was created with the intention of moving the junk created during the contest, keep it there for some time, sift through the good posts and slowly clean it up.

I had decided to do a full scale Yard cleanup. But I could see many anguished faces (literally). And it was too horrible to be responsible for kicking off the personal stats out of the window. So I did not do it.

We can however lock the threads for some time, if all agree.

I am not in favour of stopping Jokes and other such activities. But I am much disturbed to see only junk on the forum.

Lockin threads is better option for now! but what about forum make-over like i said???

How about having ratio system (ONLY FOR TECHIES), so if they wanna spam, they have to participate more in tech threads !

Ofcourse for this Admin, has to install the mod which J$K suggested, which admin said he'd do in 2 days...

Forum makeover will mean loosing Google ranking. Because all links will be lost. I am not an expert but Admin may be able to shed some light.

Locking jokes & some others section is quite good. We should have vote on that.

In fact some of the techie-only members are not too happy with this (Yard section) also.

Sections can be locked by Admin only. Mods can lock threads.

OK. I will lock some threads (not all). This will keep some "games" open but prevent mass-spamming.

Admin there is only one way to end spamming. Delete yard and offtopic sections. You may first not understand what i meant. But just think for a min or two and you will know whats the depth of my above words. When there will be no yard or offtopic sections. There would be only subforums. As guys gals wont be able to post scrap in non yard and offs sections as per forum rules. Whomever writes his post will be deleted.

If we lock the threads for now, then say after 3/4 months, again we have a huge junk of threads. Then again Admin/Mods would have to lock the threads again & this would continue on. I think this will increase the load of Admin/Mods.

We must look for some permanent solution in order to decrease the junk threads. I personally believe that the senior members make make a conscious effort not to post in the yard section.

But what 'bout jokes & such things as people will start reposting old jokes & threads like that.

Not much worry on that. Generally that kind of spamming does not last more than few posts.

If you change the theme, i guess it will only be the colour. but if you change the script the IBF will look totally different, I know little bit in this field but not too much, admin most know, but this comes at a price , I guess, so depends on admin.

What can we do to make this place a bit sane?

I have seen atleast 30-40 posts today with just one smiley in it... that's one reason we get that database error... posts come in at a rate of 5-6 posts per min at peak times and out of those 4-5 are just smileys or names of movies...
I wont mind 50 posts per min if it was anything remotely related to the theme of the forum... I dont mind shelling out another $500-600 per month on a better box on top of what I already spend but there has to be a justification for that..



Back to square one : How do we bring the focus back to "broadband"

How about if we all start with writing a review on the DTH service we use and broadband connection we use each and also the mobile phone model we use and mobile phone service we use?

The only reason we dont have a new contest yet is that its just going to lead to more spamming... (please do not start the contest debate here)

@ kix O.K. delete the jokes & other sections I think it will give name opportunity to repost the jokes & other yards things ( and increase post count( & increase in respect to others DTIS)). But first we should have democracy & vote on that.
