Thread: New writing contest?

I was wondering if we could have a new set up where those who are interested in writing for this blog : India Broadband can get paid for writing articles.

My idea is that we can have our members submit their articles and the ones which get accepted for publishing on India Broadband would get paid a set amount per published article .
When I say those articles which get accepted will get paid I mean to say that this way we can keep the bull crap out and only genuine good article writeups would get paid... say about 10-15 new articles per day or something on those lines.

Articles would be posted by members themselves as I can create their id's there so their articles will have their names on them.. but before posting they would have to get an approval by sending the articles to either me or one of the mods to make sure they are of acceptable quality.

This can go on for as long as there are members willing to make some money out of this...

What do you think about this and how much do you think should one get paid per article?
I would say atleast 300 words minimum and anything above that would be acceptable..

What do you guys say? This way there wont be a flood of spam on the forum either and we can create a huge resourcefull blog for the future generations that would come looking for information here.

I suggest the word limit should be atlease 400-500 words as articles will be published on blog.

Categories are already there on which you can start writing and all the articles are welcome in Contest

I am quite OK with the idea. Let us publish crystal clear rules for the same so that people will get a clear idea.

Also how will people send the entries?

• Private message has a word limit I think
• Mail is fine but I am mostly at office where personal mail sites are blocked - no idea for Rameshjee and Smoothvibes
• I guess we could create a common mail account where articles may be posted

Idea is alright... Prize money can be Rs.50 or Rs.100 per article for a start... $4-$5 sounds too much for an Indian Website which generates less revenue than its American counterparts... One more thing is that Rs.50 or Rs.100 scheme will not put pressure on the budget. Hence, more articles will be accepted everyday...

Later, there will be an option to increase it too... But decreasing from $4-$5 may irate the members...

An optimum article size SEO-wise (for blog posts) is 200 words and the generally accepted rate for article writing is $2 per 200 words i.e., 1 cent (or 50 paise) per word.

To make matters simple use the below system:
- Article size should be minimum of 150 words and a maximum of 300 words
- You pay INR 0.50 or USD 0.01 per word (min. pay INR 75 or USD 1.5 / max. pay INR 150 or USD 3.0)

This way you can budget and execute systematically.

May I suggest a word count between 150 words and 500 words. It will be unwise to think a small articles won't be useful. It will avoid blah blah in the articles.

We are not looking for professionals here... we just need to create a resourcefull blog and it doesnt matter if its good for seo or not.
Another thing is that this is not an employment opportunity ... its just a token money kind of thing to generate a bit of an extra interest... There would be a lot of people interested in writing up without getting paid as well so thats not an issue its just that I wanted to create a bit of an incentive for those who contribute.

So whatever the going rate is doesnt really matter ...
