Thread: A new contest for different sections every week

Hey friends,

It has been a long time since our forum had a contest. An idea recently struck my mind. I want to suggest that we should have a new article writing contest every week. However, this time with a difference.

At present we have following main sections in the forum:

• Indian Broadband Forums
  
• Computers
  
• Daily dose of technology
  
• General Discussions
  
• General

A new contest concentrating on only one of the main sections every week should do justice to all the members, viz. Techies & Non-Techies. For example, one week members like essbebe may win in the Indian Broadband Forums section, next week members like Dragon a.k.a. Manish shall win in the General board. Sounds fair?

This should also make the job of Admin/mods easier. As they will have to watch out for only one section every week.

Please add your comments and suggestions.

Did the contests have ever happened?

Nice suggestions. Any suggestions on deciding the winner.

It is good to have a weekly winner. Mods/Admin can choose them according to the quality of article.

We had contest some 6 months back. Prizes worth around Rs 20,000 were distributed.

Didn't quite get ? On what basis do you want to decide the winner.

It will be like One section for one Member.

I voted yes. Even if we don't have contest for each and every
section, we can have two contests alternating. Tech and non-tech.

That I left on you guys to decide...

I would suggest new articles. People can create threads. Whoever creates the maximum number of threads can win, irrespective of the no. of replies. It should be original. In tech sections, people can create how to's and guides to troubleshoot different issues. They can also write reviews about ISPs in their area, softwares, PCs, gadgets, webhosts etc.

In non-tech sections, people can write review about movies, places, food, restaurants, music albums etc. Discussions on relationship, health, sports, videogames can be started too.

If a week for a particular section is less, we can increase the duration to 10 days or a fortnight.

Decision of Admin/Mods should be final to decide the eligibility of a thread for the contest.

Guys these are just my suggestions. Nothing is final. Plz chip in with your comments.
