The shoutbox is the need of the Hour. It will surely reduce the spam on the forum. It will allow people to interact with each other in a convenient way too. I had seen one shoutbox in one of the US forum. It was really good. Cricinfo too used a third party live chat. I went on their site. They also offered free version with their name on the Box. I can't remember that 3rd party site's address. But it was good.

well most of the forums i have visited do have shout box individual Im wont be necessary but shout box will definitely reduce spams.

A shoutbox / chatbox if implemented would certainly help in reducing the spam content. But as rupu said, the forum's main focus would get diverted if members start using only the chatbox. If implemented (chatbox) we must make sure that we maintain a balance between the chatbox & the forum's main focus.

For members kind attention:

There were 2 recent suggestions which were/are pretty good. Please keep those suggestion (thread) alive, do not let them die till a resolution is found.

Suggestion 1: Vote: would you like to have a programming section in IBF ?
Suggestion 2: Two wheeler section

Yep its a good idea, even a common chat room would be great to reduce the spam so we all spammers will chat there itself.

The problem what i think is,

Now we are spamming in Jokes & other threads so the jokes will be posted here itself and again we will comment there are will get replies also there itself so... Upto some extent it will reduce spam like 10 % thats all. I dont think it can totally stop it.

Even if the spam does not reduce...it could cut down the hi, hello posts.

Although i believe the ongoing suggestion regarding programming and two wheelers are needed and i don't think any problem in implementing that.. If admin/mods are concerned of too many sections than they can remove some unneccessary sections (I an't talking about yard :tt2.

Yes for messenger

Don't know what the hell it is. I think it will reduce G'night to all but some few who are friends so I am not favoring or against it. If anyone tell me what it is 'bout then I will be able to form a opinion.

Soutbox is like common chatroom for all... You can say g'night there too... It will be visible to all without visiting the thread...

GC...if you like the idea of 2 wheeler section go on and vote in the poll in that thread.

The reason i favour a chatbox over a shoutbox is that ... most discussion spam posts are between 2 members atmost 4 members ....


If we have a chatbox with a friends invite type of list ,this will discourage such discussions in threads ... they are not likely to use a shoutbox because its like broadcasting some message/discussion to every member ... which is not their aim .... most spam posts are personal discussion ...

and like Admin said Shoutbox eats up more resources .... A chat application with a very simple interface , which allows u to im "your friends only" is the answer !

it will also make sure that relevant public discussions dont move out of threads
