    Default SMS Language in threads

I urge regular members not to encourage people who use SMS texts in their posts. When you answer their queries, you are indirectly encouraging them. They think that it is not a problem to write in such language

    Please point out the rules.

I may be forced to delete such threads from now on.

can you please add the following to the rules :

    1. No bold text in every post
    2. No high font size (without a proper reason)
    3. Using all caps letters for entire post. ~ not allowed

i dont know whats the problem with guys and gals...
sms langauge is more useful in phones and pagers, but when you write from keyboard its not useful. as it takes more of your mind to decide the shortest words possible...

i will like to tell people to switch only to common words and not sms linga(except Aaka- cause reading her is real charm)

This thread (post # 1) - please read a neutral tone. I am not admonishing anyone; rather I am suggesting a recourse for action.

    Sometimes one does not realize.

I tend to take a very linient view on fun threads though I would prefer not there too. My irritation is - is it so difficult to write in proper English? You can make spelling mistakes, afterall this is a language foreign to us. But by writing in SMS texts you bring a great disrespect to yourself. It is not cool, I can tell you.

If you wish to improve your English or your impression, avoid SMS text like a plague.

@npu, regarding post # 2, the Forum Etiquette page has been updated.

You must treat tech and knowledge threads as official memos, letters, documents, etc. that you will write/publish in the corporate world.

There are some set of acceptable words such as: RSVP, ASAP, IMHO, LOL, etc. An occasional smiley is also acceptable.

But there are some obscure one like ROFL which I didn't knew 'bout. I have no issue with similies but problem is that I don't know sms language much> if any one can create a small thread containing these it will be really helpful.

OK. Take the tip of safe driving:

When you are unsure whether you will be able to pass a vehicle, then do not pass. Wait for a safe moment.

Similarly, if you are unsure about whether a word is SMS text or not, avoid it. That is just my advice.
