Request for a common thread for joke

My opinion,

I like reading comments with the main post. Like gothic said, sometimes comments are funnier than the jokes. And an all jokes thread would spoil the fun.

Offtopic,

I think it would be nice if there is a single thread for all "Reps" and "Posts" congratulations or two threads for each. Like the birthday thread. And Moderators can index the name and achievement of each member in the first post with link to the post.

The second suggestion makes a lot of sense.

maybe there should be just one common thread for jokes, and maybe leave out the comments that anyone makes, as then the thread will get too too too long and then topics other than the jokes start.

If there's a common thread then there is a huge possibility that we could miss Jokes posted in continuation of the thread. One returning after a week had to explore each and every page of that thread to find jokes, if any, which is indeed a fun spoiler.

I don't mean to say that there should be only one thread. I meant to say that there should be thread like there is one for cartoons.

Did you read what I have written? I was asking for common joke thread like cartoons have but it is quite difficult. It does not mean we can't have jokes threads. But a common one also. It helps in reading.

Try to read few jokes and advice which jokes can be clubbed in one thread.
IMO only these kind of jokes can be clubbed:

- Santa banta jokes
- Johnny jokes
- Blonde jokes
- SMS jokes
- Hindi Jokes (may be)

But then you have go through entire section.

what will you do with the rest???

When you merged joke, you will get jokes one by one as in cartoon. & also you can give reps to person who have posted the jokes & rep him.

Combining all jokes into one thread - it is a nice idea but it will take too much time.

Why i think its a bad idea

1. people read the first post the most .the last post the least ...unless they posted in that part of the thread previosuly .
2. The jokes thread will be huge ,nobody will bother to navigate to the last pages to read them

some advantages of sub-forum over a thread

1. you know if you have read the joke as new jokes and unvisited ones are highlighted
2. You can to some extent gauge the quality of jokes with the number of replies it gets ........ if an old joke has zero replies ...it would mean that either the joke is difficult to understand or is not funny
3. its easier to create a new thread than a new reply in a 100 page thread\

so a thread for jokes imo is a bad idea

I think you didn't uderstand. i meant to have a common joke thread like there is for cartoon Life in IBB. We can have jokes thread also.

6-10 is not bad according to me if we have a vote on banning spam what will be the results. I am just conveying my point. Some are voting just by reading first line of vote section.
