I give repo to posts which makes me feel happy, be it joke, be it some informational stuff or knowledge based etc. When I am happy, make others happy too.

^ very good reply. That is how I feel too. Afterall I've got lots of my own reps from posting cartoons and jokes, how can I deny my reps to other cartoon and joke posters...that would be hypocritical.

Well distributing rep has never been a reason for discussion in any forum. Its always left on the users how they want to rep and which posts they want to rep.

There is no confusion at all. I don't feel another poll should be opened on this issue.

I once again say, This thread is not about when to distribute reps(We already had a discussion about it earlier) but for whether we need a change in it.Because it takes long for people to rep the same person again unless they frequently distribute repos.

Well in that case my vote goes to -- let it be as it is. Cos most of the forums I have visited have the same rep giving rules. We need to spread few reps to rep the same person again. And I do not have any problem with that :-D

Well depends few things are fine if they do not change e.g - parents,sibling

And few things might change.

So here I feel I am happy without any change and even if there are changes nothing is going outta my pocket so no worries :-P

Rep system should be scrapped altogether. It hardly matter. I can know what is going on from comments also.

The reputations' system can either be scrapped altogther or left as is. Not much can be done. There are some mods available as an alternate to reputations' system but basically it will just mean replacing one system with another with no significant advantage.

Reputation User Spread
This setting dictates how many unique members that a user must rate before they are able to rate the same member twice. The goal of this setting is to stop a member from either artificially bumping or dropping a user by repeatedly rating their posts.

That's what I am talking about.If this no. is reduced a bit then it would be better.

It is more than that. You also cannot give more than n reputations in the last 24 hours.

Otherwise there is a sinple trick - you can give reputation to some random (obscure) members and then give the rep back to the person whom you wished to originally.

But in my personal opinion, the rep system has lost a lot of significance because of the "insider trading".

Well the no. of reps we can give in 24 hours is absolutely fine.And hardly 1 day I got that message.

But I think finding inactive members from old threads is a sheer wastage of time and currently members are distributing reps the best way they could. (at least I feel so.)

I think it's best if the reputation system is remove/disable and instead use the "Number of Thanks received" addon (or similar option) like ShAdOwCoN's suggested sometime ago or use a rating system for each posts instead, if possible.
