@admin
In Yahoo Answers there is a time limit of three days. then the question is not open
any more and you cannot add new data.
2. Most foreign forums, close the thread after
a month or so , whether the problem is solved or not.
A polite message is given to open a new thread.
It is presumed, if an user finds the answer
to his problem, he will not post in the same old thread again.
I can be sure the same question will be asked in the near future here !!
Thread title: Help Help: ICICI not accessible !!!
Para two : It is in the interest of the forum to close all old threads ( say 1 month old )
Who reads an old thread with 105 posts
Example the first sticky thread here.
It contains all the info, and again the same question is repeated by new users.
Para three :
The sub forum " Broadband to..........."
can also be shifted to the TOP of the list.
Post No. 23 @bhvm suggested MTU change and the problem was solved ( without using proxy servers)
Others suggested proxy/dns change etc .
Well i dont have any issues whom so ever does what, i learned this thing form the senior members and pointed it out positively, now onwards i wont mind.
Please Refer To This Para From Forum Etiquette
Bumping old threads
One of the major transgression that has been observed is bumping old threads. The thread starter starts an issue. Some solutions/checks/suggestions are posted. Usually, the thread starter has left without notice. Out of the blue, nearly a month or two later, someone replies to the thread, 'I have a solution. Try this.'.
But before you do this, please ask yourself:
* Is the thread starter interested any more? Check the number of posts by the thread starter. If the post count is less than 15 and thread is more than 4 weeks old, the thread starter has no more interest or his problem is solved or both.
* Are you contributing anything?
* Is the solution available in another thread?
What is the problem of bumping old threads? Simple. It disturbs the Search function. For no reason at all, an old thread suddenly appears in the top list. This is a great dis-service for not only people who have urgent issues but also to people who are helping them solve it.
Let the thread starter come back and bump his own thread.

Listen carefully.
The discussion here has far wandered off from the Title.
Firstly, This is am Indian forum..Stop comparing to foreign forums.
Indian love and willingness to help is incomparable.
I often find the member come back and ask 'have you solved this yet?, if not, try this now..." even i subscribe threads and contribute till author gets satisfied.
Next.
Forum threads are not a list of mere conversations, they're information centers. Not only the registered members, but tons of other internet traffic comes (eg. Through Google search) to find the answer to their problems.-
A particular answer not suitable for author of thread, may be immelsely useful to someone such visitor. This the way a forum is called 'good'
Infact, it was THIS way i registered and came to become a member of this forum.
Mr essbebe,
One more thing,
Most of the yahoo answers are left without answers or Un-satisfying answers to the same reason.
I'd never want our forums be become that way.

@bhvm
Ok. I will also dig all Old posts for which NO solution is available in IBF itself ! and try to
revive the threads.
&start with two year old threads ! if time permits.
you have not read carefully @deepmohan's post where he has quoted the Forum . etiquette instructions.
Now @admin has to amend the same .
Foreign forums do not prevent you from starting a new thread and seek assistance.
In a way this encourages new registration of members and enhances the value of the forum
Foreign forums have not blocked you from
starting a new thread and get help for the
particular problem.
Listen carefullyIs this an ORDER ,Request ,, Command, or Appeal, This is am Indian forum..Stop comparing to foreign forums.
Update 2045: revived an old thread without solution in IBF thread, about 20 months old.

It seems to be an ORDER
I dont see any harm in implementing something +ve from foreign forums. A healthy comparison should exist.
here you are showing the Indian attitude that "let go". why should we implement foreign policy, why should we keep our city clean, why should we care for others, let the foreign countries be like that we are Indians.
Ya thats true, and i hope the same thing will be there if an Indian has to post in a current thread, the thread which has more relevanceIndian love and willingness to help is incomparable.
OR love and incomparable willingness to help will increase by digging out old threads.
It should be till the authors satisfaction, then whats the use of digging out old threads whose author is no more active with that thread.I often find the member come back and ask 'have you solved this yet?, if not, try this now..."
[/B]even i subscribe threads and contribute till author gets satisfied.[/B]

Cease fire
The moral of the story is just use common sense.
Whether a thread needs to be bumped or not? A very judgemental call.
- Unless there is someting very positive to contribute, then don't bump.
- If you are not sure, then don't bump.
- Digging and bumping an old thread, a very old thread, is not required at all.
The forum etiquette is a proper guideline.
As Admin said, use common sense.

Well i dont want to contribute any more in this regard as i earlier siad "now onwards i wont mind (Bumping old threads)"![]()
Well, bumping old threads, especially for no reason, is not welcome.
Unfortunately, some new members are not aware of the etiquette and do it anyway.
