No, I don't mean the age for becoming a Prime Minister is increased to 500 years, but that no personal messages are allowed on the fourm until 500 posts.

This new rule appears a little out of place, IMHO. And my search didn't find a thread on the topic.

Even if you reach 500 Posts, some members will
not allow PM's to them.
Only from admin/mods /friends/contacts, or none.
See Your USERCP options.

When you send a PM to me , it does not count
as a visit to this forum, and any reply given also
does not count. Also many users double post in the forum and
send PM to some members for quick response.

PM should be restricted to Private Messages, the subject
cannot be discussed in the forum openly.
and not for Technical Problems.

For instance, I received a PM asking "how to track the member's
Girlfriend via her email/address etc ",and I replied, and
posted the message/reply in the forum also, as it was
of interest to all ( technically )
Strong Objection was taken by the person concerned,
and luckily I could apologise and delete the
messages in the forum ( Not IBF).

Also the limit is 50 only ( receive/send)and if user
does not regularly delete the messages, your PM
will not reach.

I have not seen this restriction about 500 posts.
Anyway thanks for the info.
This limit can be reached easily in 2months, and
encourages you to post comments/suggestions/ideas
on diverse matters/ and learn more in the process.
Even an one line post counts !

Also helps the Forum's post counts/hits/threads opened etc.!

Problems arise when we receive a pm and not able to reply.
as once I tried to reply Puchu and the message flashed, "you have only xx posts and you cant send PM except to ....."
It became embarrassing.

this really needs to be resolved...i cant PM anyone which gives a feeling of isolation which i feel is pathetic....
