Thread: Do we need a home page?

I was wondering, it would be nice if we had a homepage where we could display the latest and what's going on.

Now that we may have the contest soon, we will have lots of new content and i am sure some of it will be really really good quality and deserves more than just reps. Such articles can be displayed on the home page.

Doing that would change the url's for every thread in the forum and would mean all the links built over the years will also be lost.

Y? we can just have a page called indiabroadband.net/home right ??that page will display other links, when even someone wants to access indiabroadband.net, they can be redirected to the home page, would we still lose the rating ? sry i am really noob when it comes to SEO...

whats the point in having a home page, that would mean more work and it wouldn't really benefit would it?

Rajan's idea is not without merit. But it could called as the "Latest happenings" or something.

It would be central location where we can check out all the hot threads, like i have no idea whats worth reading in the broadband section (hehe, lol). So it would be far easier if a section mod could pick up a good article and put it there.

Its no extra work as it all happens automatically...

Its an automatic thing but be assured that your threads will get approved every time... There is a spam protection thing that people use on blogs called akismat which we use now so it takes time for it to learn from its mistakes... with time the system will learn that your posts always get approved so it will know that your posts dont need to go into the mod que.
