Contest Suggestion - Flagship threads

We have one contest for Quantity of threads, now i feel it is time we have a "contest" for Quality of threads.

Here is a small crude plan.

We can use the Rs 5000 allocated for the Best thread starter for this contest and not have the best thread starter. Hence, both top thread starter contest and this can happen simultaneously.

In this contest, a participant has to start a really high quality thread which is in agreement with the following rules (these can be discussed)

• Minimum number of words is 1250
• Minimum number of ORIGINAL pictures is 4
• Well organised and aesthetically pleasing format

It goes without saying the the content is 100% original.

A member can send up to 5 Flagship threads/month. Each will have to be personally approved by Admin/Mod. All approved threads will receive a payment of Rs500 per thread. So you can get up to Rs 2500 per month by putting some 6 Hrs of work in total.

An Admin/ Mod will have all right to deny your thread flagship status even if it fulfills the above rules. Mod/admin shall give you the reason for denial.

A total of 10 or more threads can be approved and given flagship status depending upon the quality of entries. This is the decision of Admin only.

How to....
To take part in this contest, you just have to post your entry as a normal thread. When you have done 5 threads (or less if feel you cant write more), send the links to a particular email ID. Those threads shall be checked by Admin/Mod for quality and their status can be decided.

Who all can take part ?
Any member who has at least 500 posts or has started at least 30 threads in total can take part. This is just to avoid spammers and make sure you have some sort of experience in writing threads.


I hope you guys would agree with me and a system can be set in place before the start of the next contest.

Its instant money, why don't you get that ? I was thinking of 3000 words first but then settled for this :P

if you write 3 good articles per month, that just 3 topics to cover completely (could be you new graphics card, Laptop, cell phone anything !) for Rs1500 which is good for a student.

Any new thread to be opened by contestants, will have a subject specified, and time bound for posting within an hour..
First starter's thread with given title will appear first.
Others have to post in same thread.
Say "How to reduce data usage with limited Plans"
Announcement say at 2100 hours. Close at 2200
Next day 1900 hours close at 2000
For "Night Birds" 1205AM closes 1305Am etc !!!
Length of article can be specified.
Will be a weekly contest. Usual 1st,2nd and 3rd prizes.
This way we won't get a catalog of cellphones and laptops !
Stock articles ( readymade ) can be eliminated.
Each article accepted gets Rs 100/=.
This method was tried sometime back, ( on any subject)

Para two:
If the contest is primarily to post new threads,
if old threads say ( dated till 31st Dec 2009)
are LOCKED, persons referring old threads will be
opening new threads again.
A V Bulletin message can be inserted.

Open a new .Suggest , refer this as

I had suggested a contest on "quality thread" a long time ago. I had suggested judgement based on set of judges (50% weightage) and general public (50%). However, it could not be implemented because of certain difficulties.

In the recent contest, there was a decent participation. But some of the articles, especially in "Home Appliances and Gadgets" were pure trash/riff-raff. Sorry to be blunt here but calling a spade a spade.
