Its just me and Just4kix. We do not need more moderators in the foreseeable future...
At the moment the moderating is managed fairly well between Admin and me. When we have a huge influx of active members, maybe we can have more moderators.
I know a forum that has 22 moderators. But it has over 4000 active members and more than 6000 posts daily.
Most members visit our website, look for solutions, read/download them and then disappear. This is, by itself, not surprising; it is the general phenomenon across most forums.
The site added many non-tech sections so that there could be contributions from non-techies also. There is a reasonable response in these sections but only from exisiting members. The name of the website suggests that it a BB related site (which it is) and hence new members are not attracted because of non-tech (read non-BB) sections. To that extent, it is questionable whether the non-BB related sections should be retained at all (however good some of the articles in that section may be). For example, barring a few, does anyone find my own home theatre articles useful?
The reason for specific lower (active) membership at our website could be multiple:
Others could well add to this and suggest solutions. But it may go slightly offtopic - which is still OK in my opinion.
- People are looking only for a tech solution and not an internet companionship; they have Orkut/FB for such stuff.
- People do not have the time to be active on forums and such stuff; maybe a few (or a lot) find it stupid/childish to "waste" such time.
- People feel that they cannot make any contribution; so why bother posting?
- People feel intimidated. They may think that other would laugh at them for asking "silly" questions.
- People feel intimidated by the existing community on the forum. They may feel that they do not belong here.
- The fact of the matter is that this is an India BB related site and over 90% of the correspondents will be from India. The internet penetration here is low. Now if we were named as something like "broadbandhelp.net" or something like that, perhaps things may have been different and may have had memberships from many countries. That would also meant that we would not have any unique identity as well.
- Finally, without going too much into history or morality, we had a bad incident last year. That incident did affect the (active) membership. Some members even left voluntarily. Whether that active membership and posting was doing any good or bad to the website is a totally different matter. But it will take some time to recover.

Our forum is growing at a healthy pace and I believe that by the year 2014 the traffic will go up by 400% and even more if things go well. According to an industry biggie this forum will grow 10 folds by 2014.
2014? why is 2014 so important ?By 2014 we will have majority of population covered by ISP's and there will be more then two options for anyone looking for a broadband connection... Prices will be almost at par with developed countries and our per capita income would have risen almost 100% by then.. In effect as per our purchasing power we in India would be paying only 20-25% of what we pay now for broadband in relation to our disposable incomes..
For example you make Rs10000 per month and broadband now costs Rs1000 per month .. This makes it 10% of your income going into broadband expenses every month now think about this : Year 2014 same person making Rs20000 but paying only Rs500 for broadband and this will only be 2.5% of this guys monthly incomeMakes sense? For those who are doubtfull about our Rupee depreciating... It is not going to happen
India Rupee will find a comfortable range of Rs38-42 per US dollar and will keep our purchasing power intact or make it even better.
Active members will rise once we have 3g and BWA rolled out later this yearThings will only get better from here!
2012 mein to duniya khatam ho jayegi??
btw happy friendship day to all IBF forumers..
now a serious note:
I think that the forum doesnt need to have more moderators, because two is enough,.. see there are some forums which i have joined, there is a mobile forum, photography forum, Nokia, and a forum about chit chatting, so on this forums people are coming in big numbers in a different way then here..
In a mobile forum people will discuss mobiles, photography forum has lot of photos to be seen everyday so much moderation job is needed there.. Nokia forum is of Nokia corp, so they have them there. and a chit chat forum will have many many forumers who will spam and spam and spam and so many many moderators for them.. people also post bad threads that consist of abuses and porn kind of stuff so its required in those forums.. this forum is all for internet problems and so i dont think there are many people like that, so less mods.
Site from home gaya bhad mein... AIrtel se bolo FUP band kare.. BSNl se bolo 3G signal do!!!!>: (
just wondering....where is smoothie now ?
Do we have a twitter account for IBF?
