Thread: Who is the imposter here, make it clear please.

I was looking for a discussion on a hardware issue and stumbled here: ******************/computers-and-technology/23129-smps-fan-is-not-working/. I wasted the better part of an hour trying to log in before i realized that that "India broadband forum" was not the same as this. One of you is being a slimy, search engine grabbing toad and you had better thrash it out amongst yourselves as to who is entitled to use the header title before both of you lose all credibility like our f**ing politicians, bureaucracy, and corporate houses.

I am disgusted.

Edit: Your high-handedness in not allowing the link to that site (broadbandforum; there is a "dot in" after that) being posted is a reflection of the attitude of those in power in this country.

prevented me from participation, for last three years or so.
Post count reaching 10,000 here and about 9000
in the other forum.
Many other users ask same question/contribute in both forum/s.

You are missing the point, Sherlock, it's the identifier, the header, the title of the site viz: India Broadband forum..it has to be unique, two sites cannot be using it at the same time. Moreover, if they are both okay with it, why don't you try posting a link to that other site here? If, after that you still insist that there's nothing underhand afoot, then i too will make like an ostrich and forget about the whole thing.

Whoever asked anything about "search method"? When did i say that i had a problem with locating the information i needed. What i am saying is that if two different sites (i.e. different urls, in case the concept isn't yet clear to you) have the same name, one of them has to be cashing in on the other's traffic. What i am asking is plain and simple, which one is the original India Broadband forum. And what are you hedging like a slimy Indian politician for? It's not as if you have any stake in all of this apart from any brownie points you may have earned with your 10000 odd posts.

Clearly, there is resentment against displaying a link to a rival site. If so why isn't it being resolved legally, why don't the administrators claim ownership of the name?
Unless you have something sensible to say on the issue, i suggest that you had better abstain from going for your ten thousandth post record just yet.

They may sound and smell the same, but they don't look the same, so if you can't tell the difference, you'll just have to live with that.

Unless it is a registered trade mark, there is no such right, as far as I know?

We have the title "India Broadband Forum" for a simple reason that this website is Indiabroadband.net and is a forum which qualifies it to have the title India Broadband Forum. I dont think we can call it anything else. Yes other websites are using our title as well but no one can claim a copy right on the phrase "India broadband forum" so there could be a thousand India broadband forums in ten years time and none of them can sue each other.

same here, I am part of both sites although I do not go to the other site more often. I have even linked one of my posts from here to there and never had a complain from anybody for doing so.

As everywhere in India, Pune is full of roadside tea stalls. All of them call themselves as "_______ Amrutatulya Chai Stall". The word "Amrutatulya" (or "Amritatulya") is common to all. All are selling more or less similar tasting tea. Each shop has loyal followers which won't go to others. All shops also have common customers, who don't bother where they go as long as they get a good cup of tea.

The same applies here. Yes. The names are similar, topics are also similar and there are a lot of common members. No harm in being members at both places as long as inter-website rivarly is left out. IBM calls this a small planet - but yet there is enough room for everybody.

And I still hang around vinuthomas.com. It is very quiet, these days, but there are still some very knowledgeable people dropping in there, from time to time. Some very, very good Linux people.

Once upon a time it was the only place for Indian broadband. The wonderful word Fraudband was created there.
