The member's posts have been deleted and member banned. He wanted to quickly reach 15 posts so that he could advertise his wares. I did this in the morning itself.

This happens sometimes and there is nothing one can do.

Any option in VB to restrict the number of post to ONE per day for new members,??
( who have yet to reach 15 posts ?)
or reduce the limit to 5 this limit and see how new members use the forum.

Or sent all posts for Moderation? ( specially in Blog sites, the comments are not posted immediately )
Even now some of my posts are going for moderation !

well done essbebe.. thats something the forum needs... some mod required really..

sometimes i am online through all night, and i see some guys pulling s&^it all over here and there all over the forum... i mean if i had the power to ban them all.. i just see them and cant do nothing...
please do something..

As a moderator, I can only view and delete posts, ban members, etc. I am not aware of any option to restrict number of posts per day. But I will be most reluctant to implement it as genuine users will find this a big turn off. Too many restrictions spoil the forum as can be roughly derived from the famous saying.

VB Mods and such programs lower the server performance. Just like too many Firefox Add-ons slow it down. This affects the page loading performance and affects Alexa ranking.

But there is one mod which I dearly like to be implemented. It is the "Thank you" mod. It replaces the "Add reputation" icon with a "Thanks" button. Unlike the "repo" restriction (x reputations to be spread before you can repo the same person again), a "Thank You" can be given to any person any time. The "Thanks" are also displayed in the post.

hmm i am like half like for this... because people dont just want "Thanks" rep points adds to their ability to mod their profile settings themselves.. for simple stuff like signature, profile banner etc.. but you said replacement.. i think this should be added alongwith rep

The server we have has a lot of spare resources and we can afford to have a lot of mods but the problem is if some mod turns out to be a dud after some time we risk pissing a lot of members off.. and some mods don't get updated for newer versions for one reason or the other and that's the reason I like to keep things very basic here. I am done evaluating the newer version of VB and have decided not to upgrade to the newer version and change the script all together to a new script that I have been working on as well but it will take time as I only take care of some aspects of this new script and there is a massive team which does other stuff and when there are hundreds of people involved in developing something it means things go really slow. Let me see if we can go with a beta for the time being and get rid of vbulletin once and for all.

I haven't been online for long enough to be able to do work on this forum lately as I was busy moving house and now decorating it from scratch. Bought a new car and the whole furniture and what not.. curtains .. crockery and a whole lot of other stuff and there is still a lot more to do but things have settled down a bit now so I will be regular on the site now.

I agree with both of you. Thanks is the most convenient way to appreciate a post. Also, there should be no limits or a pretty high limit for a day for every member. It spoils the fun. I remember the days when I used to beg for the rep points. LOL

Genuine contributors shouldn't worry. As they will have no dearth of "Thanks" and "Reps" as shown in the attached image.

Why not remove the restriction on number of posts, when the new member registers in response to email from IBF?
( if not possible to reduce from 15 to say 5 posts )
2.
postpone registration till he reaches 15 posts ( all will automatically go for "Moderation ? ?)

I think that when I joined there was no restriction on posting external links. But this was attrating a lot of spammers.

1. The idea of 15 posts was to encourage people to contribute more before they could post links. We could reduce the limit and that may mean less posts like 'dddd ssss aaaa', etc. Anyway, policy can be changed by Admin only and he has enough experience and knowledge on what is best for the forum.

2. This idea is not good. Why punish genuine people for a few rotten apples?
