Question Which ISP to use for PS3 multiplayer

I have an MTNL UL Combo connection and am now fed up with input lag while playing multiplayer on PS3. The ping and jitter ruin the whole experience. Airtel would have been a great alternative but apparently they do not provide in my area of Delhi.

I have been thinking about getting MTNL FTTH and probably asking MTNL to bring down the speed from 10 Mbps to 2Mbps just so that I do not use up all of my free Mbs quickly. I have a few questions though.

Firstly will it really make a difference? I mean I am talking about games from EA and Activision. If they do not have servers in India then will FTTH have a drastic impact in bringing down the ping and correcting the jitter, and thus improving my lag situation.

Secondly, is there an alternative? I do not need speeds of greater than 2Mbps down and 1Mbps up.

    Please help.

FTTH will reduce latency marginally as compared to copper that you use now and disconnection in the middle of the game will be a thing of the past that usually happens due to poor last mile.
I would say go for FTTH if you have the money to spend but Mtnl will not reduce your speed to 2mbps from what I know but it is worth a try.
My online gaming works fine on Mtnl adsl connection but atleast 2 times out of 10 my connection goes down in the middle of the game. The games I play last well over 2 hours.

Do you face 'the lag issue' much with MTNL?

MTNL, as you rightly said, have refused to adjust the speed on any connection, so FTTH is pretty much out of the question. I have a Belkin router and a 1Mbps down connection. I have gotten all wires from MTNL box to the router replaced in the past 3 months. I have even replaced the splitter. But I still get poor SNRs, sometimes as low as 1 (upload). But interestingly there is no noise in telephone line while calling. I have registered a complaint multiple number of times and MTNL people have never been able to really solve the matter. Any suggestions what I should do next.
