Default Airtel Charging Rentals for Services Not Subscribed

    Hi,

Airtel customers beware! Airtel has come up with a rather sickening plan to fleece your balance through monthly rentals for value-added services like missed call alerts and news alerts.

Airtel had sent me an offer saying if I send an SMS to a toll free number, I could try out the new service called missed call alerts for free for a week or so. I did so and thought it would've expired naturally after a week. Now they have deducted a monthly rental for the stupid alert without informing me in anyway that they are providing me the service. They are doing this cheating on all the stuff they introduce new. It's particularly harmful for prepaid subscribers as they cannot do anything about it other than call customer care, who assure you that you are taken off from the service but you would still get messages saying your money is gone.

Yes. This is common gimmick and not just by Airtel.

Actually when missed calls are displayed on the cell phone, why should we opt for such a service? But no. They offer it and we take it on their word of mouth. And then get sucked. I was also duped once.

Now I never subscribe to any of the paid services.

its not with airtel only vodafone and all the providers are doing the same thing

when we subscribe for any free promo for a week or so we need to disable that in trial period only.. but if we dont disable that package during trial period they think that we are happy with this service and want to continue the same.. so they charge us for the monthly subscription :taz:

this thing happened with me long time back and i called up hutch care.. they provided me refund for same... i m postpaid user so got that... but not sure if they do same for prepaid as well or not..

    They did same with me

First they gave me offer for the free hello tune service for a month.

Then they cut next month rental without informing me.

Now when i get such an offer, i unsubscribe three days before the month ends up!

I think Airtel are number one for ripping money off people, they always say this is free and that is free, but later you you find out you have got charged for it..............its always good to note down the persons name from Airtel and time and date of call and keep a check on your account so that you don't get ripped off!

Reliance is even more worst...whenever you call some one the pulse is taken from the time you hear the 1st ring.....at least they are not charging if the person doesn't pick the phone,,,,
