these kinds of price hikes are quite likely ... most mobile/broadband service providers introduce such plans for the initial hype and then increase the rates after a few months.

The weakening of rupee against dollar has increased the cost-burden of the STBs. Hence the price rise is justifiable (at the operators end).

hmmm... hope it doesnt gets beyond limit . ... we are already paying almost 400 bucks per month ...

I thought the STB is a one time purchase affair. I havent used any DTH service so am unsure about its policies..

yes of course we need to pay for the STB only once .. i was talking about the monthly channel subscriptions

So everyone is increasing the prices. What is most important is if any of this extra charge will be invested for better and improved services? Only time will tell.

For a base price of Rs. 75 or Rs. 125, you get so few and pathetic channels that no real TV watcher can be satisfied with that. For enjoying the real popular channels that show the content you wish to see, you have to subscribe to higher packages and then the price of most DTH operators match - around Rs. 300 to Rs. 400.

I am paying nearly Rs. 484 per month (for two connections).

I wonder as to how many people pay just Rs 75 per month. Most people see different channels and so would need higher packages. Even cable costs more. This is suitable for only those people like my grandmother who watches around 2 channels and that also for just one or two hours a day.

So now the news is got true that sun direct have increased their prices and really a bad news for all sun direct subscribers.

Man.. I feel cheated.. after 10 months of subscription. If I even needed pack like venus, Ihave to pay 125 + 80 = 205.. ! , Earlier it was 75 + 80 = 155.

Dont you people think that there should be a regulatory authority to stop such sudden price spikes.. ?

I think that its rally not fair, they should not hike the prices like that.
Also in the ads on TV, it is very misleading,
When you go to inquire about the product only we find out the real costs

Also some of the exclusive channels removed from the base pack by Sun direct- these are Fox, Fox Crime and Baby TV and NGC Wild

sun direct is cheap and best

Initially all avail promotional offers...after 3/6 months.....they start banging.....

Whatever it may be, if they think the raise is not giving them good returns then they will come back with offers... buy for 3 months and get the connection for 5 months...
