Default Wrongly advertised as Rs. 999 per year

Although the sun dth is advertising as Rs. 999 for one year with set top box and free subscription, they are charging additional charge of Rs. 1000 for installation alone, which i feel is quite high. It means that it comes to Rs. 2000 for one year!

I agree that installation charges are quite high although it is a one time cost.

    What?
It doesn't mean Rs 2000 for one year.
You have to pay the installation charges only once.
So, you should not say that it is Rs 2000 yearly. The yearly charges only come to Rs 999.

The yearly payment (or recharge) option needs you to pay only Rs 750/- for one year.

The default yearly charges after that is Rs 750/- , or Rs 75/- per month.
It varies depending upon the additional packs you select.

Default Early birds of tata sky not rewarded

When TATA Sky launched in 2006, they charged Rs.3999 (2999+1000 installation) and they have not offered any free viewing time but offered launching offer of Rs.200/- for all channels (obviously number of channels were very few at that time). They have started charging from day one. It is better that now a days all the DTH operators are offering the packages for one year. But Tata Sky has not rewarded the early birds in that sense. So what is wrong if Dish TV charges 1999 that includes one year free viewing?

Hey Sumit! That was great. I think you should go into advertising and marketing. You will do great!. I agree that Tata Sky is better than Sun. Now, its also concentrating on expanding in south and is planning to add more channels as well. So I see it giving tough competition to Sun DTH in the future.

Sun direct was first launched in TN and was an instant success. It is claimed that they have more than 2 million subscribers. And using the MPEG-4 makes the service one of the best while i think tatasky is still with MPEG-2 transmission technique.

That i do not know. But due to the usage of MPEG-4 bandwidth is saved and the extra bandwidth can be used for adding additional channels.

ok. thanks for the info ... when the demand for number of channels reaches such a stage that MPEG2 or 4 will have a significant part to play, i am sure Tata sky will also implement the latest technology ..

But this MPEG-4 technology is one the latest marketing gimmick commonly employed by many DTH providers. I hope TS also implements the same shortly..

But this is not advantage as well as you can counter this by haveing more number of Transponders. Tata Sky has more number of transponders is it can have as many channels as DTH with MPEG-4 technology. Also, there is no difference in picture quality.
