It is really the world's cheapest car. It is being aimed at the common man. It will be excellent for city commutes. It may add to the traffic miseries but that does not mean that the common man should be denied the pleasure of owning a car. It will also force the other small car manufacturer to lower their prices which will be good for the consumers.
Having said all this, I wish the government puts more money into public transport and introduce metro/underground railways in many of the cities in India.

i got a chance to see it live, ratan tata really kept his words, he promise india that he will give indians a car worth 1 lcs and fullfill his promise......
the car looks stunning, although there are some cost cutting changes have been made like there is no radio, no a.c. ,no airbags etc. but still a car is a car,,
the car is ready to beat maruti 800 in every terms and will be out prob in sep![]()
The M800 Basic model is also bereft of AC, Power Steering, any type of Music System, etc. Airbags are found only in high end cars - those costing 7-8 lakhs plus. I have not seen the car but it did look extremely cool on TV. I heard that the seats are not adjustable - if that is true then it will be a bit disappointing; perhaps the deluxe model of this car has that.
Also note that while factory fitted AC, music system, etc. are nice to have they actually end up costing much more because they add to the basic cost of the car and the excise, sales tax, etc. are then levied on top of the basic cost.

Actually what you posted here also came to my e-mail inbox for quite a few friends and that too a week before the launch. These are almost the same specs for Maruti-800 - so someone who started the mail probably copied the M800 specs, edited a few and sent it.
This is the car which had been launched and is so called 1 lac rupee Nano.

After reading the above post which tells features in this car and also after looking at the car i think this car is really a 1 lac rupee car.
It gives me a combined looks of Zen Estilo and Wagon R..

I like the new Nano but the thing i dont like in this car is that one cannot adjust the front seats which is something very important.
I am waiting for the diesel NANO car which is expected to be launched at the end of 2008 and if it is good then i would surely like to go for it.
