@StarryKnight : I can understand your feelings and i really appriciate your love towards nature and concern about global warming.
I am not representing TATA or any big company but what i want to tell you is that though they are trying to fill their pockets but are also trying to improve economy of our nation and have also provided employment for a larger section of community.
IMO they are not intending for polluting atmosphere or global warming, its our responsibility to take care of our nature and surroundings

No offense mate

Even if nano could "lead" to traffic and parking issues, its a feasible option for those who can afford a flashy bike but cant afford a car. There are situations when we see 4-5 people travelling in a scooter without a helmet. I have seen public transports in Mumbai and Chennai. In Chennai, rickshaw uncles are still extortionists, some buses have their wheels so misaligned that it leans towards one particular direction and crowded. If you see it that way more buses can lead to accidents and traffic jams- we all know how the buses are driven in India- whether its on city or on highway.

yes it only us the normal civilians who has t get aware of protecting the environment..... one matter which i think that govt can do is ... when a plan is approved to build a house they have to make a compulsory that they have to plant a tree... if you are in apartments (even though they are all stuck together) you should atleast have 2 money plants they wont take anything else than water that too 2 ltrs a whole week so govt has to implement something like this ...

back to nano - i dont think it will change anything except the profit of bike companies....

Kiran, thats a great idea Surely our government should implement such strict policy.
Not a tree but atleast a small plant should be planted by every Indian

OK. Thread may go offtopic.

Nano will be a boon to the lower middle class.

- People are saying that it is not a safe car. So is riding a bike/scooter especially during rainy season on slushy/muddy/wet/slipper streets safe?

- People are saying, it will lead to traffic jams. Yes, probably. But does that mean that the poor people do not have the right to own a car?

- People are saying that it will double or quadruple our fuel imports. I doubt that. It will increase but not by alarming proportions.

- Greenhouse effect. Why blame Nano alone for that?

For my lower middle class definition may be little different.
I have seen so many lower middle class family(they can't be consider as poor person because their condition is little better than poor but not enough for maintain a car even nano) they are not able to buy Nano not only for the price but also for taxes and patrol charge and maintain charge in every six month .

In case of bike or scooter most of the people want to go small distance but i saw all type of car in national highway for long drive even in hill station also this type of car will run as commercial purpose which is not possible by bike or scooter.May be that;s why this question of safety is arising.

I can only say where i live(Howrah) roads are totally saturated 45 min to 1 hour time needs to go 8-10 KM by bus. This is true we don't need to bother about the road or anything why should we take the responsibility ? when govt. are not doing anything but really i am one of the foolish person so still i believe that if Govt would not do anything then we need to take the social responsibility if cars are not so much necessary to our life then why we should bye this after all I know may be it can give us little comfort but it can create problem (at least for few city) very much. But i know in this materialistic world my words is totally meaningless where success of life is measure by money, cars, houses etc.

Really fuel imports will be increase and may be it can also possible that patrol & diesel value also become high which will directly effect our market like(Rice, wheat etc) so what we can afford if it's value increase and also why we should think about the poor ? after all this also responsibility of Govt. But what said earlier being a foolish person again i feel that why we make such misused of energy only for little comfort which can effect our poor people directly.

Finally the green house effect yes that's true why we should blame Nano only, after all when every body pointing others.Like few develop country is accepting the fact that global warming is happening in their country but when this question asked to them they always "why blame only us" (even US deny to sign the Kyoto protocol) but it will never helping to reduce the green house effect. As a chemistry student in graduation once i have attend few seminar about global warming but suddenly I feel these seminar never gives any conclusion and really i am disappointed about all this matter I know we are creating a situation for natural disaster but what we can do only we will be the witness of all the matter but i feel if any future generation ever ask us that what we did last few years for that reason civilization under the trouble i don't know how many of us feel shameless that time.

No. This is a healthy debate. Everyone is not expected to agree with everyone else. All viewpoints are accepted with respect.
